I'm very skeptical that we'll see Blatt run "the weave". I don't really know crap, but I imagine that many NBA players would raise an eye brow or two if their coach came in with a straight face and asked them to use it in a game.

Sure, the weave looks cool when the Globetrotters do it. It could be useful if you got a 30 second shot clock and the defending guards can't switch or lack detailed scouting reports. But in the NBA? Most guards can switch for a second or two, they know how to jam handoffs, the shot clock is only 24 seconds and the defense has detailed scouting reports. Maybe the weave can get you a good matchup eventually, but would there be enough time left on the shot clock to take advantage of it? There are quicker ways to get a matchup that you want. I think the play opens too slowly, is too easily solved with a bit of scouting, and has challenges when you got an NBA shot clock and NBA defenders.

When I heard that the Cavs might run the weave, I pictured the reaction in the locker room could be a similar kind of WTF that you'd get in the NFL if a coach came in and started to diagram the wishbone for his team. There are reasons why that play is extinct at the highest levels.
Golden State, OKC, and Houston have also all run it this year.

When Lebron is on floor they dont run it because I think he thinks he is too good for that.

When you get the defense to move heavily there is no stopping of KI and LBJ. Add some smart positioning of Love and JR and kabooom.

We run the weave multiple times a game. That play opens up loads of options for the offense. The ball handler can drive, dish it out to the roll man, dish out to the strong or weak side wing depending on the help.

The more plays that Blatt run during the season, the more playoff teams have to prepare for. That's strategic in itself. It's like in the NFL. You want to show certain plays during the season so that opposing teams have to commit time to prepare for it both during film sessions and on the practice court. Also, it get's the players accustomed to doing it against opponents rather than each other in practice.

David my man, every year it's the same with this guy. His team starts off bad and everybody wants him gone and than out of nowhere his team becomes unstoppable.

Well seems to be the style of a winner seeing as he had the rosters of a collage coach. So if this is how good his team looks now... just wow.

Who's your daddy now?

Jokes aside, Blatt deserves some credit. He got the Cavs to buy into his offense and defense. You watch JR Smith play for them and he's completely bought in. Blatt got a lot of hate, but he's been able to get Kyrie to play defense and JR to move the ball.

J.R wants to win and when he is not on a winning team he just parties. J.R Is much better than he leads you to think but yeah if Smith and Irving are In then hell yeah. LeBron is getting there now it is up to you Love.

Post game press conference.

- One of our better games.

- In preparation for the game we stressed quick return to defence and transition defence, and the guys were very committed on the defensive end. We played physical and it helped us on both ends of the court.

- I got tired of everybody talking about Love. There is no problem with Kevin Love, he's a great player and played another fine and high level game. Calm down everybody.

- We have grown and matured as a team. We have a very clear picture of who we wanna play and how we wanna play them.

- JR has been absolutely teriffic. Great fit professionaly and in the locker room. Joy to coach.

- As opposed to the Philly game, we didn't make changes in the 3rd and tried to finish the game in the 3rd, and it worked.
