If he's referring to Varejao as the 1st guy, who was the 2nd guy that went down? That whole "Alex Kirk 1st half of the season" has become a blur...

He's just talking about the playoffs. Love is the first guy. Ky the second.

If you have a brain then you should be able to tell this guy is a great coach. I think many here forgot the plays where you for sure could tell Blatt called them and they were amazing. I am so fucking happy this Blatt vs LeBron shit can stop. I mean I could be a national reporter with my typos and hypr mind and I would be seen all of the country as the new goat. Well life is weird and so am I. Blatt is the best coach I feel we ever had so far. That is saying something about... Never mind this. Go team Blatt.

Coaches Edition of Open Court?

Nice Addition. Wonder why it's taken so long for something like this to come about.

That was funny.

Blatt is amazingly comfortable in his own skin. That's Blatt's natural demeanor.

When having to defend his credibility, explain his relationship with LeBron James, answer and/all stupid questions from NEOMG: you get a guy with a little sharper tongue. Hell, Buzz Aldrin punched a conspiracy theorist in the face, why? Because someone was trying to belittle their life's ultimate feat.

When Dave is hanging out with these coaches that's who David Blatt really is.

He's had to develop something of a shell to keep the American media rats at bay.

He obviously walked on eggshells a little bit around LeBron.

Hopefully in year two, he's much sharper at the American game, the team wins 65+ games and everyone jumps off his fucking back for a while.

Even LeBron called him a rookie. Blatt was quick to fire back that he's not a rookie basketball coach. In Bron's eyes, Blatt had no credibility. How could he be smarter than LBJ who has "seen every imaginable situation the NBA can throw at you."

I'll be most interested if LeBron drags him through the mud again? Or will LeBron accept Blatt's basketball mind the way these other respectable NBA coaches do in the program?

He was excellent in the open court segment and as many of you know, I am the one of the biggest and vocal american blatt supporters. I thought he caught some really unneccessary flack from the media and some fans, but was happy to see his "acceptance" among his peers and some merit being given to his experience abroad.

Interestingly enough, I really liked how at SL they had lebron sitting next to griff and blatt, with lue on the side of blatt. Not trying to play armchair psychologist but it was good to see those three "heads of the team" communicating and discussing most likely the future and how to get everyone on the same page of how they want to play. Last year, I firmly believe Lue would have been in between blatt and LBJ but this seemed as a bit of an acceptance by Lebron that the process and the guys they have can get the job done.

If however, this was not to work and Blatt was to lose his job(as some media believes he potentially could, lookin at you windhorst), I would be extremely disappointed in the team and LBJ. I think the perfect coach replacement(either HC or as lead assisstant if Lue was to get hired next year somewhere else) would really be Becky Hammon. I watched a TON of Spurs SL games and lived in San Antonio for a long time before moving to Cincinnati, and she seems to be a perfect pupil of Pops. She commands respect, draws up excellent plays, and reinforces positive work and pushes guys hard(sadly many NBA coaches struggle at those). Also interestingly enough, it would take some of the leverage away from LBJ's pouting of a new coach because it would be a massive PR hit again for him. Although LBJ's coach of choice would probably be hired over her, I really think the team should consider her if the blatt/LBJ dynamic would not work.

This is not to assume that I think Blatt is going to be fired, quite contrary actually, but it would be interesting to see how LBJ would handle her as a coach and pupil of Pops vs the new guy from Europe.

All in all I think/hope blatt stays because I think he is an excellent coach, and I hope that Becky hammons has success in the league whether it be potentially here or (most likely) somewhere else. I was just thinking about how the fit would work and my mind is running at work mostly.

Loved hearing Carlisle slip this in at the end there directed to Blatt: "If you guys had been full strength, it would have been an even more interesting series and as great as it was..."

Coming from arguably the second best coach in the league, that comes with a heck of a lot of credibility.

Man, just fucking listen to the one with the smartest player ever coached.
Fucking EVERYONE is talking about players who would come up and change plays, suggest different things or straight out execute different plans on the court. Blatt got shat on throughout the whole season about that shit by people who either don't know the game of basketball, or are just a bunch of idiot crybabies who got their precious feelings hurt because Blatt didn't agree to take any shit from them.

Anyone seen Nightcrawler?

That's who these guys are. Sports media guys are all about MAKING the news instead of reporting it.

Nightcrawler is a phenomenal movie. I'm not sure if it's because I was the biggest Mike Brown hater on this board but I fucking love David Blatt. Love the confidence and his demeanor with the media. This season, I think his genius will be unlocked. Can't wait to see how he utilizes Love. Really think we're going to destroy this league.

so can we agree that Budenholzer was a complete mope for throwing that "Trap LeBron/Kyrie" D at the Cavs in March? Could you imagine if he'd saved that for Game 1? Instead they got pwned by a team hardened by the Bulls' elbows.
