- Kyrie experienced thightness at the half and we sat him down. Nothing serious but it was precaution. Should be ok come playoff time.

- We planned to play LeBron about 30 minutes. It was important for us to keep his rhythm and conditioning.

- We are a team who has players who create 3 point opportunities. We don't necessarily draw up plays for 3 point shots, but we have guys who drive and kick well, we have floor spacers and guys who give them the ball. When we get good looks, we shoot the 3. We got guys who can take'em and make'em.

- Regarding being only the 11th NBA team in history to score 800 3s in a season - it was not Blatt's goal at the beginning of the season, and it's the players' accomplishment, not his.

- We'd like to play Kyrie some Wendsday, if he's alright. Not a lot, but let him play a little.

- We played hard and we played right, and that was exactly what we needed before the playoffs, and we got it.

- Joe Vardon again asks a shitty gossip question about some sort of back and forth between Blatt and LeBron during the game regarding staying in to get the 10th rebound. Blatt says that yeah, sometimes you want to have a little fun. LeBron wanted to get his triple double and I was happy to oblige.

I liked the set (and we've seen it before) where Kyrie and LBJ ran a little weave at the top of the key and LeBron got the ball open in the lane, dishing to JR in the corner for a little fade away 3 (due to a high outside pass). JRs defender had to collapse in the lane to help, leaving an open JR.

We have so many offensive options, and a series with the Spurs will be fun to watch...remember the days when a Spurs Final was touted as "boring." Not this year.

We can't possibly judge how good he is before the playoffs. The jury is still out on Blatt. I've always felt that until we saw how he coached in a playoff context it's premature to judge how good an NBA coach he really is. We've seen some good things this year and a few not so good things, but the difficulty level, the pressure, and importance of the games is about to take a big jump up.
I'm not judging him, just stating my concerns. When a coach goes 19-20 with LeBron, Love and Kyrie, I don't think it's wrong to have some concerns. Did he right the ship? Absolutely. But we still saw very questionable decisions throughout the entire season. Could it be that he's just testing out what works and will stick to what works in the playoffs? Maybe. But I definitely have some doubts.

I was at a buddy's house watching the game and he looked away when we ran that set. I told him how LeBron set a screen for Kyrie, Kyrie drove, then kicked it back to LeBron who stayed out by the 3 point line to receive the pass, then followed Kyrie towards the basket. It looked utterly indefensible. Either JR in the corner or LeBron driving with a defense out of sorts and little help available.

I give him a pass in the first 40. When you looked at our roster on paper, it looked great. Fact of the matter is we had Dion and Marion playing big minutes, without much in the middle. We even had Joe Harris playing key minutes.

Obviously, the trades righted the ship, allowing us to be much more creative in our approach. Moz really helped, especially with Andy down. I don't think we would be this good if Andy was healthy all year and no trade of Moz. He solidified the middle, allowing Kevin to do different things (he is used to playing with a big C).

Night and Day difference between the first and second halves of the year...

Two things..since there were comments on the Spurs..I hope they and Houston meet at some point and beat each other up.
You can never count the Spurs out..since Irving laid 55 on them , they've been angry.

Next , it seems Blatt has been fine tuning his game plans..I saw some of the reserves playing with the starters and not just the entire bench playing .

I am so happy that the organization did not panic and did not dump Blatt at the 40 game mark when we were under 500. Blatt was almost fired for the Maccabi Tel Avi team when they were on a bad stretch but turned around the team and ended up winning it all.

Blatt was still adjusting to the NBA game when he had always had practices where it was only 2 games a week in Europe where we could play up to 4 games a week in the NBA. Blatt always had time to prepare for games.

But what Blatt is different from our past coaches is that Blatt is able to make in game adjustments. Very smart guy and is not stubborn to change. I think in the playoffs Blatt is going to excel and is going to be a fun series.

I remember this quote when he was introduced in his first press conference as a Cavalier HC.
"I am not a offensive nor a defensive coach. I am a basketball coach" :chuckle:

Now lets get that ring.

I like Blatt a lot. But I am still curious as to what our record would look like without all this star power. I think that's where you'd get a true picture of his coaching abilities. I guess that's impossible to know at this point.

Still, that team surrounding LBJ, Kyrie and Love we trotted out to start the season really left a lot to be desired.

Well, it would give you a better picture of a different aspect of his coaching -- how he can relate to/develop young guys, what he'd be able to do with complete freedom regarding style of play, etc..

But, it wouldn't tell you how well he can manage veterans, or integrate guys with already-developed games into a cohesive whole, or manage superstars.

LeBron was out for at least 8 of those games (I think maybe a few more but I'm too lazy to go check), and Kyrie and Love were each out a couple of games as well. Blatt had to start Miller, Jones, Marion, and Dion in many of those games. You are not going to win a lot of NBA games with these players as your starters, especially when you also have to play Joe Harris and AJ Price heavy minutes. I doubt even Pop would've won many more with that roster.

Exactly. That group of guys, even with the Big 3 in there, was really bad. REALLY BAD. Even now, with Miller, Jones, and Marion....they don't give us much. I like all 3 guys, but I'm concerned about our bench for sure.

Will reapply in a year.

Better have double my share of the Jew Gold waiting on me.
