Deposed Mangini trumpets Browns' progress, has few regrets

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don't understand why Marvin Lewis hasn't lost his job. He's accomplished nothing- NOTHING- with the Bengals and it seems like he's been there fing orever.

Well, it is pretty clear why Marvin hasn't been sacked. Mike Brown is a penny pinching owner that doesn't really want to do what it takes to win. He refuses to hire a competent GM since he is under the delusion that he can actually evaluate talent. He refuses to increase the number of scouts in the organization. The Bengals have no indoor practice facility. He runs a mom and pop shop down there. Marvin seems content to tow the company line in order to stay employed. It is a marriage of convenience.

We lost a lot of close games. Some will point to improvement which it was compared to last year but that's not saying much. I tend to think of it as a let down and coaching should hold responsibility. It was Mangini's choice to play Delhomme when he was clearly awful. Games we had a very good chance of winning have won, Bucs, Chiefs, Jags, Jets, Falcons, Ravens(A) . Not to mention the bad losses to the Bills and Steelers. I look back at this year and wonder why we couldn't have been a playoff team instead of a 5-11 team again. We needed to move on.

I think Marvin is an alright coach. The Bengals problems as organization rest fully with Mike Brown being an idiot.

Common thing between Houston and Cincy is a stable front office. Mangini was brought in, then a whole front office face lift happened. He was canned because his year with the current FO didn't work out. If we fail to see a stable situation in this next try, then there is really something to be worried about.
