Attempted the raid, I was fine being 29 and all bit the 2 26's and 2 27's kept dying. It was a horrid combination of them being bad at the game, and being two levels (26's) below the enemies.
I can't even count the times we took on Atheon, but these guys couldn't get the simple strategy together.
The one guy died about 4 or 5 times when Atheon was spawning, I mean come on how hard us it to hide...
On the bright side, I got two pieces of Raid gear, so I'm hoping the Iron Banner gives out raid level legendaries as well. Just need gauntlets, and then about 50 shards, and I will be level 30.
I tell you guys, I was holding down the outside by myself, and the portal team couldn't keep it together because the 2 26's would go in and didn't know what to do.
I can see the point about matchmaking being bad for the raid, but on the flip side, it took nearly an hour to find people to do it with in the tower, so fuck no matchmaking.
Just some random tips for Atheon are don't die, it literally screws your entire team if one person dies. The second one is know your role. If you are on the portal team, kill the oracles, if not keep the portal open, and kill the supps. It really isn't that hard, I swear these guys were brain dead.
The titans kept throwing their sheilds up at the top of the middle platform, so nobody could shoot... Jumping off the map, not shooting oracles, and not picking up the relic if the carrier died, those are the things that these guys CONSTANTLY couldn't manage.
