Diet and Workout Routines

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I've been dieting for about 2 weeks now, down about 8 pounds. Basically I was eating shit because I don't have much time for real meals as a car salesman. So I started just doing Almased protein shakes for breakfast and lunch and then grilled chicken and veggies for dinner. On Mondays and Thursdays I work until 9 PM so I do the chicken and veggies for lunch instead and have a shake for dinner.

I've also been doing bodyweight workouts and dumbbell workouts at my house. I don't feel like going to the gym after a 12 hour day so I just do it in the basement. To finish it up I pick some show on netflix that runs for 45 minutes, I watch two episodes while I work on the exercise bike.

Wow, 8 lbs in 2 weeks, that's a pretty big amount.

I tried doing the Netflix workout thing, but then I catch myself slacking, looking at the TV during weight workouts, so it stresses my neck. So I still just head to the gym after work and just stare at the insane talent while I think of my girlfriends personality :chuckles:

Does anyone have any place I can buy cheap, healthier nuts. I will buy them at Kroger if need be, but feel like I can find them somewhere else I am not even thinking for cheaper.

Yeah, well my calorie intake is super low with the current diet I'm doing. The 2 shakes together add up to about 360 calories, then my one meal is a normal size chicken breast with some seasoning on it and then just a shit ton of veggies. As for the Netflix thing, I don't actually watch it when I'm doing bodyweight or lifting, I just put it on when I'm hitting the bike. I don't have to think about or concentrate on anything at that point, just make sure I'm still pedaling.

Yeah, I understand. I don't take in enough calories on the weekdays either.

Went on a veggie buying spree last night and pre-made a couple pounds of chicken. Going to make some kale chips too tonight. Hopefully I can eat a bit more. Just sucks b/c usually people are hungry after they workout, I am the opposite.

Shakes will give you protein and go down quick.don't have to be Hungry

Biglots has peanuts and soy nuts on the low low

If youre on the road, Subway double chicken salads are 220 cals and 36g protein, before dressing

FOund a good cheap lightly breaded chicken from Tyson.. 15 and 150.. also picked up some celery and power bars for when Im driving for uber.

Marathon bars are also good..they're basically the same as the clifs bars.

More cheap healthy meals guys?

I ordered a case of (20) Myoplex meal replacement shakes for $39.99 delivered via Amazone Prime, and then there was a $5 off coupon available on the product page. Averages out to like $1.70 per shake; mix them with skim/1% milk and you can have a 400 kcal meal. That will be my afternoon snack, which keeps my cravings at bay so I don't unleash hell at dinner time.

I've been taking tuna cans (cheap) and a tiny bit of ff mayo, lemon, lime, celery, carrots, pep. Mix, lightly cover in bread crumbs, panko, w/e you desire. bake em or just use cooking spray and in the skillet. You can also add sweet potatoes in the mixture and bake for around 20min. on a baking pan or in a muffin tin.

Not long prep time, pretty quick for a good amount (especially if you do little balls instead of the muffin tin) and store for ~week in plastic covered container. little tuna balls you can pop for quick protein hit.

Too many people saying that their lifestyle is getting in the way of their diet. Just own it - it's you, not your job...

Today, I set 2 personal records with the olympic style snatch. They were: the bar(45), then 65 lbs. Come at me bro. It was my first day - shit went up easy but no need to burn out and/or get hurt.

It's always been my contention that you can lift and go low carb, and thus you don't have to choose between stacking (muscle mass gain) and shedding (cutting weight). I am changing my tune here. I just can't go low carb on lifting days - it makes my workouts SUCK. I will be sitting there yawning between sets. So now I have hit the simple sugar with the pre-workout stuff, and I feel like an animal in there. So it ends up being a couple of (attempted) ketotic days where I wake up and run 6 miles w/ no calories or hit the eliptical for an hour, then I change my course of action on lifting days. Now on those days I am extremely hungry, like I have a tape worm, so I know something good is happening there.

Best bars are Quest Bars (tons of fiber too) and Perfect Food Bar (although high in calories for the amnt of protein, it's a perishable food product) and then Costco has these absurd Premier Protein bars, but they make me fart. Not a bad dessert.

Eating well is cheaper and quicker than anything, it just requires effort and a little planning. I am lacking in the planning part, so I just crushed a breakfast burrito, but hey, it's 920AM and I am 100g of protein in.

I wouldn't necessarily say it's cheaper than anything. I spend more money eating healthy than I did when I would just buy whatever the hell I wanted (That is when I had no money and couldn't afford a bunch of healthy food.) I could buy a large pizza for $4-5 and have it last me 4 meals (assuming it's a regular 8-slicer). I buy 4 cans of tuna for around the same price and it's done by lunch & dinner. I don't buy them but "low sodium/fat free" Pringles are like $2.00, regular Pringles are on sale for .88c. "Healthy" items at restaurants are easily more expensive.

I agree you can buy a ton of healthy items at the market and not spend a ton, but it's definitely cheaper to eat shitty. As you said, just have to plan, look up the weekly specials at markets, grocery stores, be a coupon hoarder. Key is buying filling foods.

^Sorry I meant to eat out, like fast food. I spend about $12 at chik fil a, and for that I could eat a 4 lbs of boneless skinless marinated chicken thighs. Should have been more clear tho... Also, at the grocery store (more like the right grocery store), you can get hooked up with tons of cheap veggies on the cheap. I guess nothing is cheaper than refined flour or corn-based garbage, but to level up to some eggs, milk (which I can't drink, which sucks), and even some decent meat for the crock pot is cheaper than eating out. It's either a $5 baked chicken or a $5 foot long - I just think most people mentally dance around that.

A crock pot is one of the best things you can buy. I buy chicken all the time and every week put different seasoning/mixes in it and let that stew for 8 hours. YOu either have the most moist chicken breast or it tears into shreds by the fork. Put in wraps/salads/eat with fingers. And for the people that hate "cooking", as the old infomercial dude said, "You set it and...."

I second the crockpot. I also use a ton of ground chicken as well. Amish farms 99 fat free.

Last day on the road. 12 days of no gym and having fastfood tempt me day after day... when we did stop for fastfood id get a grilled chicken sammy, generally under 500 cals. I got a mcdonalds side salad instead of fries, was all of 20 cals and surprisingly a decent salad

Dinner tonight was a slim jim, protein drink and a protein bar lol better than chips and a coke i suppose. Couldnt do much about it as i only had ~600 cals prior so couldnt really just skip the meal

i like the crockpot idea.. all i can think of is wrapping meat in thin bread. what else can I do? give prices too. i really like this
