Dam you got me on the wrong poster thing dead to rights lol. The other part makes me think your blind to certain realities of this America or your stuck in the ostrich with his head in the sand thing. Once again not all people are this way but to act like most don't get there panties in a bunch over kids from the hood is well just unique.

You do know the term "ghetto" is derogatory in use by most people right. Which is what a lot of people would label Dion's attitude.

Great. Yes I am aware of all of this.

Would you care to go back through this thread and point out the posters using the word "ghetto" or are you just going to make generalizations like that as your explanative assumption as to why some posters either A: don't like Dion Waiters or B: merely want to be able to discuss, praise, and critique him as a player, the same as we do with all of the players?

Or are all of us on this board(a big mixture of backgrounds, shades, upbringings, etc.) just going to have to trust you on your mind reading and social commentary.

I'm concerned with how Mr. Ball Hard fits in the starting lineup. Have been from the beginning though. Its stupid to have him out there in the starting unit where his main role is to be a spot up shooter/off the ball player. That isn't Dion. That's Mike Miller.

Dion is best suited as a 6th man on this team. He can control the ball and make plays for himself and others. This isnt a knock on Dion. Its just his game. His game isnt needed on the floor when you already have 3 elite scorers out there with him. But with a 2nd unit that needs a creator... he's perfect.

First of all, disagree and think that is going to change on a night by night basis.

But more importantly, even if true, great! Championship teams need to be full of talent all through their lineup and rotation.

At the moment I'd say.
1. LeBron
2. Kyrie
3. Love
4. Varejao
5. Thompson
6. Waiters

I guess I get easily annoyed with his game. We hear all about how he has a brand new jumper and how his work ethic is unparalled yet I'm not seeing what Dion says we will see, "the Big 4." I only want spot up jumpers for Dion and him attacking the basket. That one step back fadeaway 3 he took in the second half really pissed me off. One thing I will give Dion some credit for is his solid defense. Can someone explain to me why Blatt didn't put Dion on Rose? LeBron used to guard Rose from time to time, apparently Kyrie can't handle it so why not put Dion on Rose and simply have Kyrie guard whoever is at the 2 or some scrub like Mike Dunleavy?

the lack of a defensive 2 guard is keeping waiters as a starter. i believe waiters is better as a sixth man role. with kyrie, lbj, and love starting, there's plenty of offensive option and dribble drive opportunities. waiters coming off the bench gives the the second unit firepower and allows waiters to be himself offensively.

Hmm I see you are stuck on the literal discussion opposed to the unsaid known understanding of our socioeconomic s in today's society. I never said any used ghetto I simply referenced it as the unspoken context of his brashness as perceived by main stream America. So no I wouldn't care to go back and reread it. That salient point of your response is worthless to what I stated.

Black people overall could 2 fucks about Dion's cocky attitude while there are a healthy group of others who would see it as ghetto. WTH are you even getting at. If you can't comprehend this point IDK what to tell you man. You are in a world un aware of basic racial facts you likely shouldn't even attempt to debate on.

I am not speaking from idealism but experience. You do know Cleveland is one of the most racially segregated cities in America dude. So no you and the other peoples you mentioned do not have to take my word for it. That's my point its common sense to most.

Who on earth would you start over Dion and omg do not say Miller lol? At least Dion can defend opposed to being a sieve.

The problem is a Miller, Irving, and Love lineup is really bad defensively. Not sure how Blatt is going to work these lineups but in terms of defense Dion is a much better fit with a guy like Love. Maybe we should bring Lebron off the bench that would actually be a good fit as Marion can start [emoji14]

I agree it may be time to start doing some cross matching with Dion guarding the better point guards. Really think even a bad defender like Irving can stick with guys like Hinrich and Butler

No, what you're doing is adding generalizations on top of even more generalizations to this thread.

And me calling them generalizations does not mean I'm not aware they happen everyday. But you came in to this thread in post #16225 and essentially said the reasons why posters on this board and in this thread take issue with Dion is his attitude. That is full blown assumption. Not that that dynamic doesn't often occur in everyday life, but that it is the reasoning or thoughts of people in this thread. Again, do you mind read? If not, why is it bad of me to ask you to take the actual time to find a poster in this thread who has actually exhibited what you're claiming? Is that not what you are asserting in post #16225, because it's certainly how it reads.

As far as Dion and basketball, I've seen a ton of things I like this preseason and a few I haven't. Can say the same about pretty much every player on the team. Dion can be gold for this team and the only thing that will bear that out or not is at least 30-40 games of real NBA basketball and some adversity for the team as a whole.

So this thread will be last year's Kyrie thread...

Out.

Just because Dion starts does not mean he isn't leading the 2nd unit. Look at Blatt's rotation. Dion leaves first around the 7-6 min mark in 1st & 3nd qtr. Lebron, Kryie and Love takes a rest at the 3-2 min mark. That's when Dion comes back in with the 2nd unit. He then rest again when the other starters comes back around the 9-8 min mark in 2nd & 4th and returns later in the qtr to finish. Mike was too dumb to use this type of rotation last year, but thank goodness, we got a smart coach now.

So, can we finally stop with Dion needs to be a 6th man, come off the bench and lead the 2nd team crap?

Everyone is going to bring up defense as the reason to not take Dion out of the starting lineup. I say you don't take him out of the starting lineup because what you said will never happen. We will never see all of K Love, LeBron, or Kyrie off the court at the same time and Delly has proven he can run the offense very efficiently and Blatt wants his offense to run the ball through the point, so where is Dion ever going to get to control the ball with this team? Fact of the matter is you don't have to come off of the bench to run with the second unit. There is a reason Dion is the 1st player subbed out and starts the 2nd quarter. You can be the de-facto "6th man" who runs the 2nd unit while still starting. But on this team with this much talent, Dion is never going to control the ball for an extended period of time.

I stated Dion's on screen demeanor and slang make the judgment a face value thing for most reserved at the label of being ghetto. Now generalize your way out of that. You seem lost in playing politically correct opposed to the unsaid unspoken way of things. Which is a Cleveland/up north thing. Where as people in the Southern states are racist which only Anglo's can be or prejudiced which everyone in America can be and unafraid to be honest with their beliefs and feelings. Bluntly let you know to your face, but that's because of historical remnants of an age past.

I make the comments about Dion's attitude because those from the streets or tough upbringings are forced to be tough or get eaten alive. Those with out that required edge see it as well street mentality hence the term "street mentality".

I agree wholeheartedly on your basket ball observations stated above.

Completely agree. I just think it would be best for the team AND even Dion if he came off the bench. I don't know why people get so defensive when this is suggested. We have enough dominant scorers in the starting lineup. We need an off ball spot up shooter like Miller (or Allen if he comes, perhaps even Joe Harris if he impresses enough but probably not likely) to complement Kyrie and Lebron better. And then Dion would serve as the scoring punch off the bench and lead the second unit. People get this idea that if you want Dion coming off the bench, you hate him and think he sucks, which is utterly moronic.
