I seriously don't get it. Was it GRANT that was holding Dion back? All of a sudden, he can play again?

I don't think we need to worry about him being traded.

He's probably top 1 or 2 untouchable players on our roster.

I'm pretty sure Gilbert loves Dion. I highly doubt he signs off on any deal with him going elsewhere unless it is a can't miss offer.

With Kyrie, Dion, and Bennett all playing well tonight, it is hard to not be excited about the potential.

I think firing Grant just woke everybody up, basically. Too bad they couldn't play like this while he was here

20 points on 17 shots with 8 assists and 1 turnover. People come in here and complain about his efficiency :shakehead

It's Dion: if he's isn't going to be polarizing, it's not Dion being Dion. I'd say he's going for the crown of the best 40% shooting player in Cavs history :chuckles:. Not saying anything about this game in particular as his TS% was fine and obviously his A/TO ratio was great, but the team always seem to do better with him on the court even when the non +/- boxscore metrics (basic and advanced) don't look good.

It's not that complicated as has been pointed out many times in this thread. Dion looks great with Delly, decent or good with Kyrie, and just terrible with Jack.

Grant's biggest mistake was hiring and then arming Mike Brown with guys like Clark and Jack who get in the way of his draft picks. You limit Jack and increase Delly, you have Dion looking like a potential star again

I like this phrase. This probably sounds obvious, but it reiterates the point that measuring efficiency just on percentages like that isn't enough. You have to know what kind of player that person is.

The guy who can get a shot any time, at 40%, is mathematically a lot more valuable to your team than a spot up guy, or guy who can only get his shot off half the time, at that same percentage. There are 24 second shot clocks. Dion's ability to get a shot at nearly any time, even at that percentage, gives our team an advantage when he's on the floor. Because for half of those 24 seconds some of our guys won't even (can't even) shoot, and are effectively 0% shooters when the ball is in their hands at those times. Being 40% every second you're out there is a serious threat.

If we really wanted playoffs we could have been playing him more and consistently from the beginning of the season. Especially a few of those close ones might have gone the other way, and even if not, he'd be an even better player today, imo.

If Grant was holding Delly back, then yes.
Dion and Delly may be having a love affair their chemistry is that good together. That play at the end of the 3rd Q was my favourite Cavs play this year.

D Waiters legitimately looked like D Wade on a couple of those finishes around the rim, he dished some dimes, he and Kyrie were having fun together on the court and smiling, he played good defense. Tonight was a good night for DW3. On this little 3 game winning streak, Dion is averaging 20 ppg, 5 assists, 4 rebounds and he and Kyrie are clicking. This is what we were hoping for when we drafted Dion...

P.S. Griffin, whatever you do, don't trade this man.

What I saw in the last couple of wins is that Kyrie is willing to defer to Dion. That is the best sign we could have if we intend to go forward with this backcourt.

The sharing of the basketball between Kyrie and Dion last night was off the charts. They couldn't pass it to each other fast enough. It was beautiful.

I'm expecting dion to go off during the rookie soph game. I bet he wants to prove all the shit talkers wrong. I think this could be when media starts to respect Dions game

Edit---
I hope he scores 30 and after every basket looks around and yells AYYY HOW YOU LIKE DIS NUTZ

I think what it is, is Delly is not looking to score when he is in the game, so it allows Dion to be the Alpha on the court. Also, Delly is a great leader, look at the end of the 3rd Q, when he told Dion to give him the ball, and ran that great backdoor play. Delly knows how to play basketball right, and he helps everyone play better. I also love the pace when Dion and Delly are in the game, they psuh the ball fast, and it fits them both. This is something I would like to see Irving do more. I just think the way Delly plays basketball gets the team going. You have a great energy guy / defender in Delly, and then a good defender in Dion, who can drive and get hot shooting. After seeing the way they play, I love Dion off the bench as he is still getting 30+ mins a game.
