Watching this video makes me think that there really were some serious chemistry issues with the team last year like all the rumors said. In about half of the highlights, they are in front of the Cavs bench and with the exception of the power facial slam dunks, his teammates don't seem to be happy for him or celebrating with him at all in them, and there are some pretty spectacular and exciting plays in there, it is bizarre to me. It is either a half-assed seated clap by a couple guys, or nothing at all. You see so many teams where the bench guys will stand up and cheer on ANY big play, and you don't get much of that feel in those. Hopefully things will be better and more cohesive this year.

**EDIT after watching a second time**: Seriously, this is NOT a coincidence. The Cavs show Dion NO love when he makes big plays. There is a drive and a two hand dunk finish over Nicholson I think on Orlando around 3:48 and no one budges. And-1s, ankle breakers, spin moves and no one acts like they care.

probably hard to get excited about a dunk when you're down by 17 to the freakin' Magic. Seriously what is with all the Waiters conspiracy theories...

I think one of the major issues is that throughout Dion's career the bench was punishment. He made a bad play, bench. He didn't give enough effort, bench. He wasn't good enough, bench. Everything about him not starting was always for negative reasons and so now in his mind the bench means people think he isn't good. What we need is to get him to realize that we need him to be a 6th man because he is good, because we trust him to bring a spark, because he is better than Wiggins, because that Wiggins will need Lebron and Kyrie to prop him up and Dion doesn't.

It might be tough to change the mentality that has been pushed into him but it might be possible. Honesty I think he will mesh well with Lebron, they have the same type of fire.

Here is the corresponding Kyrie Video. I only watched a minute, but the bench reaction seems to be about the same.

This post is ridiculous.

It's a highlight film, and all you're focused on is the negative? Who does that? You're really trying it.

SMH.

Would not be surprised if Waiters becomes Lebron's favorite teammates on this roster. Hes the guy with a mindset of I work for what I get and I try hard all the time and he has a great toughness. He also doesnt seem to have the ability to mentally defer to another man. I think LeBron will feel that and respect it.

Im loving the dynamics those 2 could have. I could see Lebron taking a hard foul and then Dion coming right down and giving it to someone on a dunk, that would be amazing.

Except that poor judgement can lead you to think you deserve something you don't. Just look at the south.

Combine that with the inability to defer and it is a recipe of disaster.

I know this is a possibility too but I just refuse to believe a man is crazy enough to not do whatever it takes to not find a place on a team with Lebron.

Thats like playing with Peyton Manning and giving him the finger every play.....as a rookie. Like dude who TF are you?

Kyrie has a bigger mental problem deferring than Dion. Talk about to me, this recipe for disaster again.

I wish he was not only going to get to play with LeBron, but play for Blatt. I could definitely see Waiters and Blatt butting heads on occasion, but the way Blatt always talks about wanting guys that have passion, I think he would find himself not wanting to take him off the court. Alas, I highly doubt he ever plays a game for Blatt.

LeBron is really going to have to hammer into Kyrie how to play team ball. If LeBron wasn't here I wouldn't have been surprised to see Kyrie tune out Blatt too like he did Scott and Brown.

You mean the guy that has one good game out of 10, doesnt guard the other teams point guard, and loses his job to a rookie PG?

Idk man.....Waiters is better than Chalmers for sure.

There is nothing in basketball that Chalmers does better than Waiters, so he must mean Dion will be the 4th option on offense. If he is on the team, I doubt they will be running offense through Wiggins before Waiters this year. If they try that they won't do it for long.
