Ran a Post All-Star break on guards with 19.3+ ppg. There were 14 guards. Dion and Kyrie were both in the mix (19.3ppg each). Dion was 7th in FG% and 5th in 3P% (though low to middling in just about every other category). He put himself in pretty good company at the end of last season, as a 2nd year player with Mike Brown as a coach.

Sorted by FG%
Dwyane Wade (MIA)
Goran Dragic (PHX)
Stephen Curry (GSW)
Nick Young (LAL)
Isaiah Thomas (SAC)
James Harden (HOU)
Dion Waiters (CLE)
Russell Westbrook (OKC)
Kyrie Irving (CLE)
Brandon Knight (MIL)
DeMar DeRozan (TOR)
Damian Lillard (POR)
Kyle Lowry (TOR)
Paul George (IND)

Maybe he is already traded, if you look at his last tweet with the picture of Varejao and the comment #NeverForget
Strange tweet

Pretty sure that was from the game in Detroit where he hit the game winner with no time left on the clock.

I figured it was reference to that play and that shot

I hope Dion just rolls with it at the beginning if the season. His first two seasons in the league, we have been awful and it's been an uphill battle for him the season to show people around the league that he is far more than some sort of Marcus Thornton type chucker. The opportunity for him to shine is huge this season, whether starting or off the bench. A much easier, fun offense awaits. A floor with better spacing and less attention on Dion awaits due to LeBron. Every game is in the national fans and medias mind with or storyline this year. He can shine no matter what the role.

I feel like it would be really bad for his value around the league if he begins the season complaining about his role. The media will frame it poorly in the context of LeBron returning and stick the selfish label on him permanently. Aw long as Dion is getting 24-30 minutes a night, he will have the attention of the whole country and the rest of the NBA because of the spotlight that comes with LeBron.

Reading the writing on the wall: Griffin has been insistent that Wiggins is a shooting guard. Wiggins also happens to be a better fit starting next to Kyrie and LeBron. As for the bench, the Cavs are looking to add perimeter shooters in Miller and Allen. There are only so many minutes to go around.

The Cavs shouldn't be in a rush to trade Waiters. And Griffin is said to be a fan. But all signs seem to indicate that he is the odd man out.

What's the point in posting every Dion tweet about the bench? We know this already, and so?? Move on.

Seriously? People have been making the same arguments in support of Dion, and citing the same statistics, for months. At least the tweet is actually something new.

In any case, it is relevant because one of the core debates about Dion is his level of maturity, how willing he is to be coached, and whether he's more about team achievements or personal achievements. The tweet amounts to a warning to Griffin and Blatt that he won't accept not being a starter. I can't see how anyone could bitch if the Cavs traded the guy given that attitude.

I suppose he's either trying to force a trade, or simply cannot keep his emotions channeled in a positive direction, which has been one of the raps on him since day 1.

Griffen said that Wiggins was a 3 in his last interview. He only became a 2 so as not to be an impediment to getting Lebron.

Lebron mentioned Dion in his letter.

Thompson mentioned Dion in his interview on CAVS.com

La Familia.

Allen will maybe get 5 mins a game. Miller can play 2 or 3 and has an injury history so he shouldnt be played too heavily. Wiggins is a rookie and needs to be used to spell lebron. Miller and Allen are also not even on the team.

Dion proved to be a good 2 guard post-all star break when he actually got starters minutes. couple starters minutes with a real coach and lebron james, and you dont want to see him go. As far as "writing on the wall" Lebron said "I think I can help elevate the games of Dion Waiters and Tristan Thompson" in his return letter

I know what Griffin said in his last interview and you couldn't have mischaracterized more if you tried.

The rest of it means less than nothing.

You know a big reason why a guy like Beal is looked out almost unanimously as the better player? One, because they started winning. But two, because you don't get the rest of this bullshit out of Beal. He's not getting kicked out of practice and he's not fighting with teammates and he's not bitching day and night about the possibility of coming off the bench. Dion Waiters is not talented enough to warrant all of this off the court nonsense. He's KILLING his value right now.

Everyone takes what Griffin said about Wiggins in the post draft press conference out of context, as well. He was specifically talking about Wiggins offensively becoming a 2 guard because he simply doesn't have those skills right now. But everyone hangs on the "if he's going to be great in this league, it's going to be as a big 2 guard" quote, when that quote was part of a much bigger statement about what Wiggins needs to improve upon.

People saying Wiggins will start at SG over Dion. Have they not been watching any SL games? Wiggins shooting is erratic and his ball handling is comical. There's a reason why he's been starting and playing mostly at SF. Guess, Blatt didn't get the memo that Wiggins is the already the anointed SG starter...
