Dion Waiters

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
A kid from Philly with decent b-ball athleticism who grew up in the mid-2000s when AI was their star in their city.

This observation means having AI as a fan's favorite in Dion's case (the 'kid from Philly') for most of his time growing into a future professional basketball player.

It's the case that AI is Dion's favorite player. You get the feeling that Dion wants to be like Iverson. So much so that he's trying to duplicated what AI did a lot, including his major faults. And naturally, Dion wants to be the star because of what AI did.

Dion's got quite a bit of growing mentally to do. Might take a while, since it seems like he needs to be broken down mentally. Just hope for the best.

Anytime now he'll turn it around they say. Post all-star break is when he plays his best basketball they say. I know you can do it Dion! Have faith!

I just honestly can't see what Dion worked on over last summer. It just looks like he got worse at everything.

instead of the $10M he probably thinks he deserves

You're way low there. Dion thinks and genuinely believes he is a near max (if not max) guy if some team would just hand the ball to him and let him do "his" thing (whatever the hell that it is).

I genuinely think the Sixers should make a play for him because they have no talent and he could be their Russell Westbrook and just pile up stats.

I don't think a contract less than the MLE will do it. My guess is that Dion won't get it until he's cut from a roster for the first time. That might be pretty good if the Cavs sign him again.

I still don't think getting cut will do it with him.

I thought getting traded from the Cavs might wake him up, but his comments after being traded tell me he still doesn't understand what a good opportunity he screwed up for himself here.

I just don't think he understands the concept of "buying in".

I might be the biggest Dion hater in America but I am almost beginning to feel sorry for him. It is getting to the point he is starting to look like a full blown scrub out there.

His PER on the year is down to 10.53, and in his last 5 games he is averaging like 26 minutes a game and only averaging 9/2/2.

Worst thing for him is that both the Cavs and Thunder are "good" teams, and he can't seem to function within the framework of a good team. He was good in the rebuilding situation where there were no expectations, but on a contending team it just isn't happening.

Doesn't he have an option at some point soon off his rookie deal they have to make a decision on picking up or not?

You mean Lebron didn't offer to work with him as with kyrie, love,TT,AV ete in the summer? Put it this way. They isolated him and he basically was working alone, told to copy how Wade played off Lebron............end of communication. Sounds like recipe for a mess. They almost had him dealt off before the season and he wasn't part of the plan.

Dion was expecting Love to be the 2nd option while he played the mini-Wade role while Irving shot off the ball. Never happened. Irving was yacking up shots left and right out of the gate and the Spurs redux was a joke.

For Dion and Love, it will be a interesting summer.

Roughly 90% of this post was made up off the top of your head.

Lmao what the hell did I just read

He's trolling right

This dude is a scrub. It's obvious to the world

I'm guessing Dion saw his rookie deal coming up and wanted to put out some strong stats so he could get that near-max deal (or whatever was in his head). You'd think that with that dream dying and now him being an inefficient disappointment on a 2nd team that reality would start intruding, but it's hard to tell with any of these guys. Heaven knows that they're hearing from their friends and 'associates.' I do hope he gets it at some point before he ends up out of the league.

Dion has started the last two games. today he was 4-8 from inside the perimeter and the 3 pointers he did take were mostly within the offense.

Although noone wants to hear it Dion is fitting well within okc and although his shooting could improve he has been pretty solid on the defensive end.

"Shooting could improve." You don't say....

Here's a not so bold prediction. OKC won't bring him back next year.

He's shooting 28% his last two games combined. That's putrid.
It's sad that the expectations have fallen so low for Dion, that what he's done these past 2 games is considered good. :chuckle:
