Dirk Nowitzki

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He would have won a ring if David Sterns hate for Mark Cuban didn't get in the way. That was one gypped up Series.

To be fair, he should have a ring. The NBA stole it from him and gave it to Wade

up 13 in the 4th quarter in game 3 and up 2-0 in the series ..... the refs didn't steal that series. The Mavs fucked that series up. Refs didn't make them miss shots on the offensive end. You gotta close.

I think he'll go down as a good big man (even a HOF big man) because of his ability to score and his shooting ability, but I think people will also overlook him if he doesn't get a ring.

He's a first ballot hall of famer. He owns virtually every statistical category in Mavericks history and he'll probably play for them another five years or more. He's never had a serious injury and his game doesn't require him to be athletic. If he can shoot over anyone now, he can shoot over anyone five years from now. Most MVP winners are first ballet hall of famers. Especially when they're the face of a franchise and one of the best scorers the game has ever seen.

And yes, Stern pretty much gave the Heat that championship. If a Dallas player looked at Wade wrong they would be whistled for a foul. They pretty much let Wade win entire games with free throw shooting.

The team they have right now is a much, much better team than the Dallas team that played the Heat for the championship, but the league is much better overall. They've got a very deep, talented team right now, but Denver and LA are just as talented.

Is he a great player? Of course... possibly top 10 in the league right now.

Possibly top 10 in the league right now??? You can really name 10 guys better than Dirk?

This guy is a monster and for sure has been overlooked or underappreciated throughout his career.

What's up with him this year though? I have him on my fantasy team and I haven't seen many games, but just from that it looks like he is a lot more aggressive. He's shooting less 3s this year and getting to the line more.

Also, he's not the best defender but he's not even that bad, and he gets the team a steal and a block each game.

He's definitely a top ten player. In fact, a lot of people think he's a top five MVP candidate and I would agree with that. The last four games he has been playing out of his mind.

Dirk's the best bigman in the league right now, or at least he's playing like it this season. But he's sorta been forced into having to be their leader just cause he's their best player, and he's just not a vocal guy.

I wouldn't confuse defense with blocks and steals per game... 7 Footers can accidentally run into a steal and a block per game just by virtue of being huge. He's a terrible defender... but his ridiculous offensive ability more than offsets it.

I was really wrong about the Mavs this year... now I look at them as only one of two teams that even have a shot to knock off the Lakers in the West. I'm gonna start paying more attention to them & Dirk... next national TV game for them isn't until March 25th.

AV and Dirk look like they move the same, but one is a great offensive player and the other is a great defender. If you merged them together you would get the best big man in the game.

Well at least give Dirk Andy's hustle, lateral movement, and hand-eye coordination and you'd see a naturally well balanced all-star big man. Or give Andy Dirk's shooting touch and post ability and you'd see a well-balanced runner up to sixth man of the year.

Hell, give Dirk Andy's frantic pace and you'd see a completely different big man, and vice versa with Andy's flow in set shots on offense.

But I'm not holding my breath for Dirk's team in the playoffs. Show the Lakers you can handle it, or go home. Because right now, they look good, but that's what makes Regular Season the "practice" for the main event.

That's why I separated the two, saying he's not that bad a defender and he gets a steal/block a game. From what I've seen recently, he's not that bad anymore, definitely not terrible or atrocious.

Dallas has always had players I enjoy watching. Dirk, Jet, Diop, the unstoppable JJ Barea. Then they added Jason Kidd, likely my fav non-Cav currently playing (aesthetically speaking).

OTOH, I've never liked Baron Davis. I was the only one outside Dallas rooting for the Mavs in that series. Oh well...

His defense on Pau if Dallas and LA meet in the playoffs could make or break the Mavs season. He is a beast of an offensive player but it's time he shows he can defend a guy like Pau. Dallas is going to make LA's journey back to the Finals so hard. I love it.
