I would probably give Brunson the nod over Mitchell as I think they are chugging and after dismantling us last year deserve benefit of the doubt, but Lillard feels a bit like a makeup vote for never making a first team in West.

If he would just cut out those stupid deep 3s 8 seconds into the shot clock he’d probably be shooting 40%
I’ve actually been wondering how much better he’d be if he could limit the number of unforced stupid shots he takes

Lillard has no business starting over Mitchell. He's the best SG in the East and has us--again--in the fourth seed region while missing 40% of the starting lineup.

Even Brunson would have been a better choice

All star voting is the biggest bunch of bullshit ever. Maybe make it like 10% of the players.

Problem is, can't have the media vote either as they're all big market centric so it doesn't really help.

Probably only makes sense to have coaches and players pick.

I blame the 3PT% on fatigue. He is being asked to run the point, score, break down the defense, and make all the plays. There is a reason Curry plays off ball so much and why LeBron never started at PG.

I just hope he can survive until DG gets back because JBB apparently believes Mitchell is the only PG on the roster right now.
You could very well be right, but for now I would like to see Donovan cut out the 3-pointers early in the shot clock and run the offense. It works best when he gets into the paint for a layup, a floater, a pull-up jumper from the elbow, or a kick out to an open 3-point shooter.

LeVert, Merrill, Niang, and Wade are all shooting 40% or better on 3's in January. Niang is at 47.5% and Wade 48.6% for the month. Mitchell and LeVert getting into the paint with some combination of Merrill, Niang, and Wade spotting up has been a deadly combination. Mitchell is shooting 34% on 3's. He should limit his 3-pointers to catch-and-shoots when he's open and can take his time.

I would like to see a lineup of Don, CPJ + 3 spacers. Cavs really need a true stretch big that can set screens and space the floor. Wade and Niang are okay for the spacing part, but I don't expect them to hold up for long setting screens as bigs.

Wade especially is too important for the defense to risk him in those positions.

Nah I think the voting actually got it right. He was probably the 4th best guard in the East, when looking at the entire season. That's not good enough to be a starter, but he should be picked as a reserve.
I tend to agree with you. However, Dame Lillard being a starter over Brunson is absurd.

Yeah to clarify, I meant that where Donovan placed is right. I would replace Lillard with Brunson. The Knicks have been rolling without any real stars.

Say what you will about him, Julius Randall is a 2 time All-NBA player (2nd Team and 3rd Team for the last 3 seasons). That's more than Mitchell. He may not be a top-tier superstar, but he most certainly is a "Star Player" in my opinion.

I understand what you guys are saying, But I am not sure how Brunson's situation has made him more deserving than Mitchell's situation. The Cavs have faced pretty consistent adversity on a scale that NY has not. All while playing to near-identical records. I have no issue with Brunson and/or Mitchell not starting. I just don't agree with the reasoning on Brunson over Mitchell.

Yeah but Randles game is really ugly. He's not a star.

In all seriousness I think he is quite a bit overrated and not a ceiling raiser. Probably still a star but I just wanna complain about this guy's very unaesthetic game

Yea, I hate his game. Don't get me wrong. He's a B-tier star...maybe C-tier.

But he is a "star" by most definitions. 2-time All-Star, 2-time All-NBA. 23ppg, 10rpg, 5apg on decent efficiency in 5 seasons since being a Knick, including a year where they made the playoff with him being the #1 option.

He is now in the type of role he needs. #2 or #3 high volume option on a very good team.

Randle's production is weirdly bipolar every year. Hes either one of the worst contracts in the league or a borderline all nba guy

Don and CPJ have unfortunately shared the court for only 58 minutes across 12 games this season, per nba.com’s stats page. But those minutes have been very effective: +8.9 per 100 possessions with an offensive rating of 123. So count me as yet another person who would like to see them together more.
