We have 6 good to great LBs? No..

WIllie is old and slow, Wimbley is gonna be great, Leon Williams might be good, Andra Davis is average.

So we have a formidable LB core. I don't mind what we have, I like all the players we got. Lavarr is old news now.

harrison- all over the place, knows how to put himself in great position.

wimbley- is a beast, and will become one of the best LBs in the NFL. mybe by next season.

davis- fast, knows how to finish a tackle, smart. also great hands. ABOVE AVG LB.

thompson- not sure why he did not see more time, when he did play he was always around the ball.

mcginest- when he was playing last season, he always seemed to have about 2 big plays a game. i love that. only bash on him is his speed, but thats cuz he is old.

leon- nice speed, puts himself in good postition. im not sure about him finishing tackles.

so i say we have 4 pretty darn good LBs and, leon i think could get alot better and thompson who i dont really know about.

The fact that you say Harrison shows you have no clue what you are talking about....we don't have a LB with that name, we dont even have a LB that has the last name that starts with an H. So what the heck are you talking about?

Davis makes more tackles 5 yards down the field than anybody in the NFL. He is your average MLB.

Chaun deserves more time, eh...I always pulled for him, but he just doesnt have IT. He is good on special teams and good in pass rush situations. I hope we re-sign him, he is a FA.

Wimbley..I already agreed on.

McGinest, old. Lost one and a half steps already. He is above average for now...hopefully Leon Williams can grow into thie position

I mean jackson. funny how u say i dont know football and u dont even talk about jackson.

davis is a good LB

o ya and every LB on the browns makes tackles 5 yards down field because the DL sucked. they are pushed back 9 out of 10 times. wimbley was the only one who could really do anything in the back filled.

also funny how u say i know nothin about football and u agreed with just about everything i said.

shutmouth, you got it wrong about our linebackers.

They are average.

Davis/Jackson/McGinest are nothing special. Davis is not very good, he just a little better than Rali Rainer.

hate to say this, but there is nothing "darn good" about the Browns...especially on defense, isnt this the same D that made Willie Parker look like Walter Payton?

all you did was name names, you didnt offer to much insight to much else. but then again, what should i expect from you, youve had 3 different SN's and sucked on each one of them.

I think Wimbley is the only good-great LB we have on this core...

Williams and Jackson both have the potential to be good starters...

Davis is what he is... He's a good, solid LB, but not a star...

McGinest.. He's average/below average.. He's just declining..

I think our LB core has a pretty bright future of Williams/Jackson/Davis/Wimbley...

Browns LBs are very good. and once a decent DL is inserted u will see that. Im not saying they are hall of famers or anything, but they are the best LB core the browns had in a very long time.
Mcginest made some nice plays last season, some real nice interceptions, he is fun to watch and knows how to play the game.

If davis sucks so bad why did he just sign a new contract and is the leader at LB????

Again, like everybody said, Wimbley is the only player that you can consider good, with great potential.

Nobody is saying Davis is bad, we are saying he isyour average MLB. He makes tackles and that's pretty much it. He won't change a game plan, he doesn't need to be double teamed, not the fastest guy on the field and it just average.

They might be the best core we have had..maybe. But until we get a guy that is better than Jamir Miller, than we really don't have anybody that is better than "good."

Time to call this arguement a wrap...

But u have to admit, with a better DL guys like davis will be even better.

Agreed... A lot of the time our lineman weren't double teamed, allowing the O-Lineman to get to the LB's...

If we can get some lineman who can occupy blockers, I think this group will be a lot better...

Just for argument's sake:

ESPN Ratings:

Andra Davis = 20th overall
Willie McGinest = 77th overall

Sporting News

Andra Davis = 12th among ILB
D'Qwell Jackson = 1st among ILB Rookies)
Kamerion Wimbley = 3rd among OLB (Rookies)
Willie McGinest = 23rd among OLB

KEY! Thats key.

Expecially the ILBs live and die with the D-linemen. Since our D-Line sucks, it is not a fair argument to trashtalk our ILB.

Lets take the LBs one by one:

Wimbley: Great! But plays mostly as D-Lineman

Davis: Good and can be a lot better with a good D-Line. Always at the top of the league in tackles.

Jackson: Good, is Davis 2.0. And I THINK that Jackson might be a better coverage man though. (Shut down some great TEs this year)

McGinest: Solid to Good when healthy. And is a leader and a teacher.

Thompson: Solid, with a lot of upside, but never really given the chance with the right time to shine.

Williams: Great! Waiiiiiiit, before you lynch me, take a look at the last 4-5 games of where William got a lot of time. He was a BEAST. Expect him to start from Day 1 this season

Recap: 4 Good to Great LBs. And 2 Solid LBs.

Now some of you might not agree, but I think that your standards might be a little too high here. Take a look at the other teams in the league. We are not far behind in the LB departament from the Elite teams.

Don't forget that 3-4 is all about the LBs, but LBs need the D-Line.
