Man, that kind of sucks.

I don't know, I still would like to see the Heat organization destroyed, and no longer be a thing.

I think my two most hated, least respected franchises/fanbases in sports belong to the Marlins and the Heat.

I hate the Yankees, Red Sox, Celtics, Steelers, Ravens (I don't believe they should have OUR team, but the city of Baltimore deserves a football team), and a few others. But I can at least understand those franchises being in existence. For as much as I hate them, they have good fanbases and some form of importance to the world of sports.

The Heat (and especially the 2010-2014 version) are a sick joke that spits in the face of what an NBA fanbase should be. Same with the Marlins who have two world series in the past 20 years, while legit ones have had zero in the same amount of time.

Miami should have:
-An IndyCar/IMSA race
-The Dolphins
-The U (and they should seriously return to prominence because they were a fun villain team)

And that's it. No other pro sports teams.

I know gour feels his pipe dream of Wade is over.

I don't just yet. I never thought it was going to happen, and believe me, I still don't. But this Broussard tweet was interesting.

League execs telling me there is not a robust market for DWade because of his age (33) and injury problems.

If the market is not good for Wade. And Riley gets fed up with Wade, and decides to sign Ellis. Which for all we know, he could actually prefer.

What is Wade going to do then?

This is why opting out was a BAD move on his part. He's lost a lot of leverage, IMO.

Riley has almost all of it now, given Wade's market doesn't seem to be very good, and he could just replace him with a healthier, slightly younger, semi-clone in Ellis.

This is all assumimg Riley and Wade haven't already discussed an extension or even agreed upon it in principal.

I really don't see how Riley wouldn't look like a fool if he were to let Wade go. Riley holds the leverage? I beg to differ......I think the franchise player holds more....

Wade opted out, that was his decision, and he tested free agency. It's not like Wade has looked "good" in this either.

Even though I don't personally fault him.

Riley is cold blooded. I don't think he has one problem replacing him.

He has all the leverage, because other teams might not pay him what he wants either. And unlike Wade at this point, who probably doesn't benefit from walking, Riley can walk away and just sign Ellis for the kind of money he wanted to sign Wade for.

Wade is looking like he's going to lose in this. I think he will be back in Miami, but it won't be for what he wanted though.

I think he'll end up caving. It was a gigantic mistake opting out.

I think all of this is hocus pocus akin to Love's free agency - he never was going anywhere, but controversy brings in ratings.

How much do you think a team would really offer him? $12 mil a year? More? I don't think he'd lose out as much as you may think. I think Miami and Riley would lose out letting Wade go. I can't see their fans being very happy....

I think the riff is real, otherwise Wade would have never opted out. You just don't opt out of 16 million at his age, given his health.

He's trying to bluff with Riley, so he'll pay him. I don't think he has any serious attention of leaving either. I don't Riley necessarily wants him out. But its pretty obvious, Riley doesn't want him back at his asking price either.

The fans are already not happy. Mostly at Wade. And if leaves, sure, some won't be happy at Riley, but the narrative will be Wade is greedy, or Wade is a ring chaser.

I just really doubt Riley will sacrifice what he feels is best for the team going forward, just to appease an aging star. He doesn't think that way.

And to be fair, I don't blame him. Right now, Miami has a solid roster. They want to keep their options open, compete next year, and possibly net a big fish in free agency.

I think the Winslow pick was really big for them. I have no love for the Heat, but that was a nice pickup.

I don't think they're serious contenders at all, but I could see them at as a top 4 team in the East, and they can suddenly become appealing in free agency.

On the flip side if Wade walks, and Dragic walks, it would be very easy for them to be an absolute disaster next season. It's slippery for Miami. It looks bad for the organization ditching Wade like this, and I imagine a lot of high profile guys are taking notice of the situation.

The market for Wade may be muted, but it’s not $3.37 million/year muted, which is the most we could offer him as a free agent.

Wade may sign with another team if things with Miami are as bad as they seem, but there’s just no way it would be with us.
