ESPN Player ranking - The Cavs players

Also, Rose being ranked higher than Kyrie right now is an absolute joke. He hasn't even proven he can play basketball yet, and Kyrie embarrassed him in the FIBA World Cup.

Disagree. Rose has actual NBA accomplishments on his resume. I think you have to wait until Rose proves he CAN'T play at that level anymore before you start accepting that he can't.

You said it yourself, the list is more of a popularity contest for people who only watch the NBA for nationally televised games and the playoffs.

Actual time has passed since Rose could be considered a good basketball player. Real, actual time where NBA games have been played.

When was the last time Rose could be considered good?

He does have actual NBA accomplishments, but those were at least three years ago. He came back last year for a month, played terribly, then got hurt again and missed the rest of the season. He looked awful in FIBA. I think the onus is on him to prove that he can still play at this point. We haven't seen MVP Derrick Rose in three years.

He's hardly played, and I think he's a great player who is owed the benefit of the doubt. If he plays this season and Kyrie is better, so be it. Kyrie is supremely talented but his defense makes him virtually below replacement value, it's almost sickening how bad his defense is and thus his net worth on the court is not exactly positive.

Obviously he plays on the Cavs so people on here are going to brush his shortcomings under the rug and pump him up saying he should be a top 10 player or whatever; I think last year proved that is not the case yet.

he had to carry the offensive load by himself last year and hated Mike Brown hence his effort was low...if you watched Fiba that was the exact opposite...

I don't put FIBA in the same sentence as NBA competition unfortunately. And "hating" your coach thus low effort is not a ringing endorsement of him.

I've gotten used to the hate of our young players but..... anyone who think they can name 30 players better than Kyrie Irving and that there are 50 players between Beal &Dion need to be drug tested asap

Well, you already know my thoughts on Beal vs Dion.

Obviously FIBA is a different level of competition, but that's all the more reason that Kyrie should be ranked above Rose right now. Rose looked like shit against guys who wouldn't make an NBA squad while most of the other guys on the team dominated them as expected.

Fair enough, I just think he's rusty. I'm a fan of his game so I hope he comes back to at least 3/4 of what he was before. Besides, the Bulls don't really scare me with or without Rose, which is more an endorsement of our team than a knock on theirs.

ya Len Bias isn't still #1 either, Rose should have fallen

The Dion v. Beal argument will be a "fun" one all season long. Beal is going to get a lot of minutes and will put up numbers, be it on a break or just hitting his pretty shot. Dion may or may not see the floor as much as Beal (I'd lean towards not); the skewing of impact and numbers will keep the discussion from being absolute and we will have Beal v. Waiters be the next coming of Jonas v. Tristan.

Waiters might actually end up seeing a lot of minutes this season. The Cavs' depth at the guard spots is pretty shallow. Unless Miller or Marion is going to be spending time there or Ray Allen comes on board, it's basically just Kyrie, Dion, Delly, and blowout minutes for Harris if he's activated.

No one on here brushes his shortcomings under the carpet. trust me. No one

(Except for maybe me)
