Farewell, Timofey Mozgov

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Looks like he's dominating the rim. And Lowe/Windhorst said he was out of shape.

He is out of shape, for him. If you watch the first practice he was very lumbering. The knee surgery didnt allow him to work out most of the summer.

Thing is through practice and hard work he is getting himself back into shape. This is not Moz's fault by any means, but as good as he looks now, he will look much better in about a month.

Moz for a full year with this team might be the most exciting addition to this team to me, including having Mo back which i also am excited about.

There's a slight possibility you missed the joke.

General question:
1) What % do you guys think Mozgov is playing at now?
2) What % do you guys think he'll be at in, say, 2 weeks into November?
3) What % do you think he'll be at in April?

I'll go.
1) 68%
2) 72%
3) 77%

(Marla Ridenour article)There are some solid financial truths in the Cavs’ position. Since July 2014, Cavs owner Dan Gilbert has shelled out more than $200 million for five-year contracts for Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love. Center Timofey Mozgov will get a max deal in the next offseason.

I'm a huge Mozgov supporter, but I don't see a max contract for him as a given, given his knee trouble. Granted it was a "minor cleanup"- so make of that what you will- I'm only going by what I see on the court. He's slower and moving gingerly compared to his 2015 beastmode. Last year he was under the radar, and excelled with his speed and footwork. This year, he's more under the microscope- and his speed/footwork are currently not nearly what he was last year.

There are lots of factors at play here. 1)His decline in speed could work in our favor and allow us to get him for a lower amount this summer. Sure, lots of people may think anything other than a max will be lowballing him- think what you will, I'm just being practical. 2) Over-reliance on him, especially if Tristan really does hold out, puts him at risk to strain or injure that repaired knee. He's a heavy dude, and he does lots of twisting & turning in the post- let's not act like there's at least some risk. 3) He'll get better...but how much back to his old form? See the #s above 4) Mozzy at 80% is still an advantage over most teams' big men 5) Love's return and depending on his own effectiveness can help mask all this

Ehh, I'm sure there's more but that's good enough for now.

Mawzgod. Thoughts?

He looks slow, stiff and it sucks, I don't know what to think of it.
Damn it

People be cray. He only had the surgery about 10-12 weeks ago. It's unfortunate he waited until July, but it is what it is. There just wasn't a lot of time for him to rehab it, so he's going to have to work on it through the season.

I will say this Timo works as hard as anyone on the team in the gym. Often there after practice putting extra time in with Phil Handy.

If anyone can work back into shape during the season it's Timo. I think he will. He's very driven, hence his disappointment in his play.

Real talk to anyone that knows, what can we give him next year? How high will that take the tax?

He will be eligeble to around the same money TT was asking.

if he demands the max remains to be seen. he will be 30 then so a 5year max deal is unlikley.

and i dont have the feeling Moz is a greedy guy. maybe i am wrong but i think he wants to stay and will not pull a TT on us^^(wich in the end worked out so^^)

How that influences the tax ,well. The Cap 2016 will be 89m and the tax will be 108m

2017 the cap will be 108 and the tax 127

add mozgovs 16-19m to our roster and look at 2016 cap and tax to what we have right now and you propably get a guess
