Fastlane Tonight - in Cleveland!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
–Last Monday’s WWE RAW main event segment with Roman Reigns and WWE World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus drew a lot of criticism from fans and people in the business as it went on forever and didn’t really accomplish much.

The “I thought the Irish had potatoes but you’re smuggling tater tots” line from Reigns has been the butt of many jokes this week but WWE actually wanted the fans to chant tater tots, according to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

If you can believe it, and this is very telling of the state of WWE creative right now, the idea was to use the long promo to build to the line from Reigns so that fans would chant “tater tots” at Sheamus.

Oh, Vince....

My predictions for the night...

Becky Lynch Vs. Sasha Banks
This match just got added to the pre-show. This one is actually a tough call. The show is in Sasha's hometown of Boston, but the women's division seems to be gearing up Becky for a feud with Charlotte after tonight's show. I'd pick Sasha here, but Becky makes more sense if they are going with her and Charlotte in a program after TLC. Honestly, this one really could go either way depending on who they push against Charlotte next. I'm gonna go with Becky because that seems to be the way they're going.
Winner: Becky Lynch

The Wyatt Family Vs. Team ECW - Tables Elimination Match
Ironic that the Wyatts get the Survivor Series match they deserve a month late. I mean, is there any way the Wyatts don't win this? If they lose, might as well just remove them from the WWE because they are completely fucking useless. Dreamer and Rhyno are veteran jobbers and the Dudleys came back to the WWE to put young guys over, as seen by the fact that they haven't gotten a title reign yet. The Wyatts NEED this win.
Winner: The Wyatt Family

Alberto Del Rio (c) Vs. Jack Swagger - US Title Chairs Match
Thankfully the WWE decided to scrap the awful MexAmerica gimmick, but it makes this match more than a little pointless since they are effectively fighting over Zeb and he's no longer aligned with either guy. Whatever. No one was going to give a shit about this match either way. Zero chance Del Rio drops the belt so soon after coming back. Also, the chairs stipulation is the worst. Just make it a fucking street fight or hardcore match or whatever.
Winner: Alberto Del Rio

Charlotte (c) w/ Ric Flair Vs. Paige w/ Paige's Push-up Bra - Women's Title Match
This match has basically become a heel versus heel match I guess. Do they do a double turn and make Paige a face in this one? Seems kind of silly after she made fun of Charlotte's dead brother a few weeks ago, but Vince probably assumes we've all forgotten about that by now since the WWE pretends it never happened. Charlotte looks to be entering a program with Becky going forward, so it really doesn't make sense to have Charlotte drop the belt.
Winner: Charlotte

The New Day (c) Vs. The Usos Vs. The Lucha Dragons - Tag Team Title Ladder Match
Well, this one should be fun at least. The New Day are the hottest act in the WWE right now and are selling merchandise like mad. For that alone, I don't see them losing the belts. Then again, the WWE really has a hard-on for the Usos despite the fact that they're boring as fuck and have absolutely zero singles potential, so they may give them the belts anyway. In the end, though, I think Vince thinks with his wallet here.
Winner: The New Day

Kevin Owens (c) Vs. Dean Ambrose - Intercontinental Title Match
Sure would have been nice if the most intriguing match on the card had a stipulation on a PPV filled with them, huh? I'm torn by what the WWE is going to do here. Owens has been having a good run with the IC title, making it relevant again. He's also really over for a heel and arguably the best healthy worker the WWE has at present. Ambrose is the most over guy in the company that can suit up, although he's not nearly as good of a worker as Owens. I think Owens will retain, probably by either DQ or cheating. I don't think these guys are done yet. My guess would be Owens cheats to win, then wins the rubber match at the Rumble and enters into an IC title program with Sami Zayn heading to 'Mania.
Winner: Kevin Owens

Sheamus (c) Vs. Roman Reigns - TLC World Title Match
Is it just me, or is the TLC stipulation wasted on two guys who are effectively brawlers? This match type would have been a much better fit for more dynamic guys like Owens and Ambrose. Honestly, the stupid chairs match might have worked here since these guys are probably just gonna beat the hell out of each other. Hell, just make it a street fight and they'd probably do more with it than they will with a TLC match type. Regardless, it's hard for me to see the WWE giving Roman Reigns his first legitimate title win at the most meaningless PPV of the year, especially with a brutal Philly crowd awaiting him tomorrow for Raw.
Winner: Sheamus

---

My main concern with my prediction is that there are zero title changes. Granted, this PPV doesn't matter and WWE clearly hasn't given a shit about it, but it still seems weird to not have any title swaps. The New Day seem the most primed to drop their belts if someone has to, although the WWE may just say fuck it and give Reigns the world title on the night where no one is watching.

What's sad is that this card really isn't all that bad. The WWE has just done such a piss-poor job of building up any of these matches that the whole card feels totally insignificant.

This pay per view is going to blow and get drastically shadowed by NXT London, which has shitty build and a meh card.

Just wait until 'Mania gets embarrassed by Takeover: Dallas.

That ladder match was spot filled and amazing. Hopefully it won't be the best of the night, because Ryback and Rusev was garbage as expected. I feel like the super heavyweight fights will end up where divas matches used to be if they put in the right divas.

That Rusev Ryback was horrible
Rybacks time may be up. Rusev usually had good matches

Del Rio and Swagger was long but there was brutality throughout. I hate it in these matches when they don't use stipulations after they get tired. These guys have each other ALOT of chair shots. WWE has gotten away from brutality unless it's a Brock Lesnar match and I liked this match

If anyone has any ideas to give Ryback crowd pop again I'm sure the WWE would listen.

Definitely think it's time for him to go the tag team route

Definitely think it's time for him to go the "off TV" route. There are better, more talented guys to give his spot to who are rotting on Main Event and Superstars.

I love Paige. Clearly the only diva with a defined character (damn good heel). WWE is tip-toeing and shitting all over this "Diva's revolution".

We are only a few months into Flair's main roster career, and im already annoyed as shit.

- Mimic's her dads tactics to a T. While I get its apart of her act, that stuff looks ridiculous in 2015. Even when Flair was doing it in the 2000's it looked dumb, we just accepted it because he is like our crazy uncle.

- Is she a heel or face?

- Can she stand alone without her dad in her corner? She gets zero reaction one way or another.

Its sad because I thought she was pretty talented. She just feels so stale

Hopefully Owens losing is a sign that he's about to be pushed into the main event, either by winning the Rumble or via a Wrestlemania program with Lesnar. I'm betting on the latter, but you never know.

I honestly have no idea what the main event of 'Mania will be. I assume Reigns will be half of it, but who will the other half be? The cupboard is so thin right now. I guess they could decide to push Owens as the major heel with everyone else sidelined after this Sheamus shit is through with. An Ambrose heel turn is possible too, but if they go that route, it doesn't make a lot of sense to give him the IC title since he'd presumably be feuding with Reigns in that scenario and they'd be fighting over the world title. It would make more sense to keep the IC belt on Owens.

Ive seen a few decent spots in this main event, but it sounds the like crowd isnt into it. Not paying close enough attention though.
