Favorite Sub & Sandwich Shops

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I have a DiBellas, Firehouse, Mr Hero, Subway, Potbelly, Jimmy Johns, Charleys, and Penn Station all by my house and they all bring something to the table. I surprisingly am not even 200 lbs.

DiBellas- Great bread if its light on the oil. They put a good amount of meat on there too.

Firehouse- Its hit or miss. I have had a few good sandwiches, but have just as many terrible ones.

Mr Hero- Greasy AF, and can be disgusting. However, a Chicken Bacon Ranch w/ Double meat, might be the best hot sandwich here.

Subway- I will only go here if I lose my job and am short on cash...even then I may opt to make my own sandwiches.

Jimmy Johns- The bread is ok, but everything else seems just average. Its kind of like how everyone raves about the Indians.

Charleys- Has a few great sandwiches, but there is never enough meat.

Potbelly- See Charleys + $5

Penn Station- Solid sandwiches. Probably my favorite because of the consistency.

For those of you have said Melt. I highly recommend going back. The expansion has allowed them to take a little more risks with their monthly specials (Chicken & Waffles, Wet Hot Buffalo, and the TMNT Pizza Roll Sandwich). They also still have the Dude Abides, the Count of Monte Cristo, Cuban War Pig, chorizo & Potato. Dont forget to ask for a side of the chipotle ketchup.

My experience with Firehouse has taught me to pretty much never order anything but the New York Steamer. The Italian and Brisket ones aren't bad either, but everything else is kind of meh. However, the New York Steamer is awesome, so I go to Firehouse once every couple of weeks just to eat it.

Where Melt went wrong is that when they expanded, the food quality went down. The sandwiches are not fresh. They have frozen a great deal of them and ship them to the different locations. People have had plastic in their sandwiches.

The last time I went to Melt was in late March, I got the Monte Cristo, and it was alright, but I wouldn't rave about it. I was also never a fan of their fries. It's somewhere that'd I go to once a year.

Really surprised by the amount of people who like Mr. Hero. I always wondered how they stayed open, because their parking lots always seemed empty. I do love their fries, but it's been years since I had an sub from there.

Jimmy Johns is better than Subway (IMO) - just because of their bread.

Penn Station was never my favorite, maybe I just never got the right sub from them. But I can tell you their cookies are really good.

People, tell me where to go in the North Olmsted or Old Brooklyn area for a sub.

Penn Station on Great Northern Blvd. Mr. Hero not too far East on Lorain there (North Olmsted). Enjoy!

Thanks. I am boycotting that Penn Station because the owner screwed me on a car deal. I've actually never been to Mr. Hero, maybe I'll give them a shot. There's one close to where I live too.

The Original Steaks and Hoagies - Twinsburg - owned by a few guys from Philly (why they came to Twinsburg, I have no idea.) Their Cheesesteak is amazing.

Grum's on Coventry. Great sandwich, my favorite aspect is that no specific element is overpowering, you can tell each component of the sandwich is high quality.

Why aren't people using google and yelp?

Because only self important douchey pretentious nitwits post reviews on Yelp.

togo's out here in socal is amazing. decent price, ridiciulously extensive menu, everything is fresh as fuck

I never go there because there is a place called the sandwich spot down the street that destroys togos. I was almost repulsed when I had togos turkey sandwich after having the sandwich spots offering.

I remember togos having a very good meatball sandwich in the past though, but I don't get that very often.
