Game 15 | Cleveland @ Detroit | November 25, 2009 | 8:00 PM EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Not a bad writeup by Jody Valade filling in for Windy tonight:

I'm sure every head coach gets ideas from their previous coaching staff. I'm sure Kuester also got ideas from coaching under Larry Brown with the Championship team.

. . . and Mike Brown got ideas from coaching under Poppy in San Antonio. Doesn't matter. Jodie is a local beat writer and will have a local slant same as Detroit writers will have a Detroit slant.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! I'm out.

Didn't get to see the entire game tonight. Got to see the end of the first, most of the second, and the entire 4th.

I was with some old college friends, and man LeBron started pissing me off at one point in the fourth quarter.

Boobie looked really good from what I saw. Moon looked good. Mo looked uncomfortable.

All in all, no Shaq....road win....double digits. Controlled the game throughout...

I'm happy.

Yeah, I didn't understand why Boobie got so few minutes. He was lighting it up, seemed like he hardly played in the 2nd half.

If Delonte is ready, we need to play him, maybe even start him.

This team needs him. His defense is greatly missed. His ability to handle the ball offensively allows Mo and LBJ to play off the ball. And he has a post game that he'll go to when needed.

LBJ refuses to go to his postgame

Hate to beat a dead horse, but Stephen Jackson would have provided all of these things and would have been a big help tonight...After a slow start in Charlotte, he's starting to turn that team around.

Stephen Jackson can't shoot the ball like Delonte can :(

Why do you guys keep saying w/o "starting center"? You say it as if Z, wasn't the starting center last season... only a few months ago! The only missing piece worth mentioning was REDZ... with two new people who are additions that are better than what you had last season! How could that even be an excuse you use? Yea, we are 11-4... how many of those games did Bron have to basically will the team to victory? The other guys have to win games when LeBron has an off night and take pressure off of him or it will be the same story as every season... LeBron with like 40/8/8 or more and you still lose when it matters! I'm not saying they are horrible (obviously) but what can they do besides pray LeBron makes his baskets at the end! If we had lost some of those games you people would be thinking more clearly. I can see how you weren't thinking last season when you thought that you were amazing but got ran out the gym... then I see hundreds of posts saying how you knew you didn't have the right pieces and how you knew the team wasn't good enough... stop letting winning blind you because it will sting you again when you can't win when it's all on the line!

Worst post of the year nomination.

We are WITHOUT OUR STARTING CENTER.

Z was our starting C last year. We couldn't win with him, which is why we traded for a NEW starting Center, who was out tonight.

and "if we had lost you guys would think the team is bad" is John Madden-esque.

"Whoever scores more points in this game will probably win the game".

"Ran out of the gym"?

Did you watch the Orlando series? Despite all the match-up problems, it was a very close series. Not to mention, most posters acknowledged that we didn't want to face Orlando, and the whole board was rooting for Boston in that series.

Nice try, maybe next time.

Are you a cavs fan? Cause if not just tell us who you are a fan of, we won't bash you for your fandom anyways, we will bash you because your an idiot.

Denial! Why do you have to resort to asking people whether they are fans just because they challenge whether the team is the be all end all? No, you didn't win it all with Z but none of you were doing any complaining all season when he was the starter winning games! If this was against better opponents then MAYBE Z starting should present a problem! We play a quarter worth of bball very good here and there... then Bron has 2 save us! People who aren't drones realize that there is someone/thing else needed because as you already know Bron can't do it all... Bron shows up most every night. Who else can we rely on? Shaq can do it occasionally but you shouldn't count on him much because this team does something Phoenix did not, and that's play D... he will probably be injured (I hope not) more than last season b/c of that reason! You know we need more when people are saying we should have tried to get AI... we need offense from somewhere, so people are willing to take him on even if he is a ball hog, can't play D, and doesn't wanna come off the bench! I understand the O and D struggling alot when Shaq is in b/c he is a big new piece but for it to struggle with people who have been together for seasons? I know we can be better but I can see that we can't do it by putting it all on Bron! LeBron said himself that he wanted Shaq here so the other players could talk to him instead of always looking at Bron for the answers... the dude is mad tired of it always being on him!

are you serious? Stephen Jackson is good on a fast offense but he commits too many turnovers and takes too many bad shots. He would really have to tone his game down to fit as a starter. I could see him coming off the bench so that at least one of Lebron or Mo do not have to always be in the game.

Having Stephen Jackson would be like having Larry Hughes all over again. They have the same skill set except Jackson is a better 3point shooter and Larry can get more steals.

No one said this.

No, you didn't win it all with Z but none of you were doing any complaining all season when he was the starter winning games!

Bullshit, all this forum did was bitch about a lack of post-presence and a future solution at the five.

Still hard to tell if you are a Cavs fan since earlier you said "you didn't win." It's just hard to tell if you have an agenda or if you're just ignorant.

As for Bron, we still constantly ask for a true championship caliber second-option even with an All-Star PG and a HOF Center. Why act as if we all want to settle with this roster?

Shaq can do it occasionally but you shouldn't count on him much because this team does something Phoenix did not, and that's play D... he will probably be injured (I hope not) more than last season b/c of that reason!

We brought Shaq in for the playoffs, hence not playing him while he's not 100% and preserving his big body. His post presence will pay off in the long-run, we aren't worried about him matching our 2008-2009 regular season success.

You know we need more when people are saying we should have tried to get AI... we need offense from somewhere, so people are willing to take him on even if he is a ball hog, can't play D, and doesn't wanna come off the bench!

Again, no one here seems to want to settle with this roster. We just don't need to jump on a deal, we need the right deal for this team to win it all. For now, we have a damn good team and we should see where this goes because we have lots of time. AI would only work if he accepted a very limited role, and every poster here for him acknowledged that.

I understand the O and D struggling alot when Shaq is in b/c he is a big new piece but for it to struggle with people who have been together for seasons?

Yes, because Delonte is still starting, Parker and Moon have been around for years, JJ is a veteran with intangibles and understanding of ball movement, and Z isn't a 34 year old soft jump-shooter. Did I miss anything?

I know we can be better but I can see that we can't do it by putting it all on Bron! LeBron said himself that he wanted Shaq here so the other players could talk to him instead of always looking at Bron for the answers... the dude is mad tired of it always being on him!

This is a good team with a lot of potential, but with the different struggles we've had keeping the team together we are doing quite well at 11-4. This is a time-consuming process, and you can't expect everything to click all at once. Would I like it to be better? We all would, but be THANKFUL for what we do have.

Again, who are you a fan of? What makes you think anyone is content with this lineup we have right now? And finally, if you are a Cavs fan, why did you come here just to spew ignorance, acting as if we are sucking on this team's nuts? This forum can be very critical of every player, we aren't blinded we just look at the big picture.

....I understand the O and D struggling alot when Shaq is in ...

Akronite stole most of my thunder...but there is one thing I wanted to add. You're incorrect about struggling on both O and D when Shaq is in. Stereo posted that with Shaq the Cavs allow an average of 91.8 pts/game when he has been out 101.0 . Also with Shaq, the Cavs allowed an average of 30.7 points per game in the paint ... without Shaq 40.4 . It is very obvious that he has/will make our defense better

On the offensive side, with Shaq the Cavs are shooting 47% from 3 point range. Without Shaq only 40%. Hickson was just starting to get a feel before Shaq went out. I don't think you'll see much of a offensive drop off when Shaq returns. Plus, they are already playing much better than a month ago and I believe that they still have substantial room to improve as they gain more familarity with each other.

Just had a chance to watch this game on DVR.

What I don't like is when it got somewhat tight we went back into "give Lebron the ball and stand around mode" while he dribbled and chucked.

That works against weak teams like DET but bites us in the ass every time against elite teams. It's just bad basketball.

Mike Brown has to call a timeout and COACH and tell Lebron to keep moving the ball. Yes Lebron carries this team to a ridiculous extent but I don't think a coach can just stand there and worship everything Lebron does on the floor, it's what led to him developing some of these bad habits in the first place.

Just my 2 cents.
