Game #25 | Lakers @ Cavs | Dec. 6, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So one problem tonight is that the bench was just contributing fuck all anywhere.

LeVert played some ok defense down the stretch, but other than that...

Love played 9 minutes, Osman 23, Okoro 10, and LeVert 23 and in those 65 minutes they grabbed a combined 4 rebounds. Zero offensive.

Osman getting 0 in 23 minutes as 6'7 forward pretty much sums everything I hate about Cedi Osman as a player and why I want him traded
Welcome back sunshine.

Laker friends telling me they aren't impressed with our D'Antoni style offense and will go nowhere :chuckle:

Not a bad comparison. It's very Harden/Paul Rockets thing going on. They got close and then got unlucky.

It's impossible to run a legitimate offense when you don't have a true SF and play at the slowest pace in the league.
That’s on the HC. He likes this snail pace. The Cavs have been one of the slowest paced teams since JBB took over.

Chones interviewing Garland. Good questions.
"What do you think of Mitchell's performance?"
"It's dope seeing him do that."

Starters:
Mobley 7-12-2 with a steal and a block in 30 minutes. Also had 5 fouls, not all of them clear-cut.
Allen 24-11-1 with 3 steals and a block in 38 minutes Welcome back!
Garland 21-3-11 with a steal in 38 minutes Only 1-6 from 3 but who cares?
Mitchell 43-6-5 with 4 steals in 39 minutes. 17-27 fg, 4-8 from 3 You get the feeling he can do this every night.
Stevens 2-7-1 with a steal He also guarded Lebron

Bench: 19-5-5 in 23 minutes Poor bench results.
LeVert 7-2-4 with a steal in 23 minutes
Osman 6-0-1 in 23 minutes
Love 2-2-0 in 9 minutes
Okoro 3-0-0 in 10 minutes
Neto 1-1-0 in 2 minutes
Diakite 0-0-0 with a block in 2 minutes

The Mitchell trade was great but the question is whether we overpaid - left ourselves just short of where we needed to be with nothing left to get there. Giving Lauri *and* three firsts and two pick swaps is a fuck of a lot.

So the alternative is not getting Mitchell.

The trade was a long term bet that 1. Garland and Mobley will get better. And 2. Over time we will able to shape the right roster around the 4 26 and under all stars. Not a short term desperation move. We don’t have to be title contenders this year.

It just wasn’t an overpay. Mitchell has proven that already. anyone clearly better would have required trading Mobley or Garland.

Realistically those first two picks especially are not that valuable. Those swaps will likely never be meaningful. Ainge knows this. Mobley and Garland will both STILL be under 30 when all of those picks have conveyed. We all wish we still had Lauri but Ainge is good at what he does and he was the most important player in the trade for him.

The Cavs would and should make that same trade 100/100 times. Mitchell is probably on the fringes of the MVP conversation right now. Those players at 26 under contract for 3 years simply don’t get moved

Where does that leave the Lakers, who lost to us by 14?

What does this even mean? Mitchell is our leading scorer and DG is our leading passer. Are you saying that they aren't doing what they literally are ding?
Do you want a serious answer? I typically ignore your posts. However if you want a real answer I'll provide it.

Huh?? They were up 2-1 in the NBA Finals and you're saying it took them a full year? Disagree.

LeBron melted down in the Finals, but they had figured out who the better player was by that point.

They were in the finals because of their sheer talent disparity over the rest of the league.

Also, I mean im pretty sure there’s articles, oral histories and probably even books that go into detail about how after they lost the title, part of their redemption tour year was Wade handing the keys to LeBron for the offense.

Mitchell is a top 10 NBA player…maybe developing into a top 5 scorer? With the pieces around him this was NOT an overpay. People are going to sign here for minimum deals to get on this team. This core could be a dynasty type roster.

Agree 100%. And any player clearly better than Mitchell (e.g., a top 12 player in NBA) would not be available in a trade.

Koby…..we need a SF!! Get us an athletic wing that can shoot and we are LEGIT

Koby has some stuff to work out. Really curious what it’s gonna look like when it’s all said and done.

I’m guessing he’s keeping powder dry for at least another 12 months to see how Mobility develops. But LeVert and Love decisions will happen during that time…
