All You Need To Know
This is a totally rejuvenated franchise, all thanks to one man: Dr. James Westphal:
Coach Westphal took over a team that last year looked disinterested in basketball. He then lost his best two wing players, Francisco Garcia and Kevin Martin. Despite only living an hour away from Sacramento... yeah I admit it. I stopped paying attention for a few weeks.
Then I saw the standings and realized the team is scrapping away around the .500 mark. I saw that he gets productive minutes out of Jon Brockman and Kenny Thomas eek. I still wasn't overly impressed because they have played so many home games. Up until last weekend, the Kings had won only one road game all season. Just as I started working on this thread when I watched the Kings vs. Bucks game:
<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/J2AbVDPywzk&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/J2AbVDPywzk&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>
HUGE statement game for the Kings, followed by national press last night in the Bulls comeback. Everything I was going to say about the team being decent at home, piss-poor on the road? Rendered useless. Forgetaboutit. It is hard for me to completely ignore my Warriors... but I catch myself following this rag-rag bunch of kids up north much more than the Warriors lately. Westphal's "just have fun out there" mentality is winning me over.

Short Shorts Attack!
Key to the Game:
~Much like the Cavs, Tyreke Evans can get into one-on-five mode. They are a much better team when they rotate the ball around, getting the ball into the hands of thier two above average backup point guards. LeBron will also need strong guard play to take pressure off of his shoulders.
~The Kings average 15.6 turnovers per game, while the Cavs average 14.5. The Kings make plenty of "young team" mistakes, the Cavs seem to make plenty of "I just want this game to end" mistakes. This is a confident young team, but if you match thier energy level, they will turn the ball over.
~Arco is one tough place to pick up a road win when the crowd is rocking. This game hasn't sold out just yet... and the die-hards are just getting back into Kings basketball after the big last second win by Evans. If we take the crowd out of it, we have a great chance. If this team pushes a lead to around 8 or 10 over us at ANY point, the Cavs are going to awaken the sleeping giant.
Oh, yes, those are real Sac Dancers!
Go ahead, cheer for booze!
Uh-huh... yeah!
You... are... welcome.
