Game 32 -|- Cavs @ Nets -|- Saturday, December 29th, 7:30PM ET

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Tonight's game reaffirmed two things for me:

1. Byron Scott is a masterful tank driver

2. Nerlens Noel should be our primary target in the draft

If Irving even if just had a mediocre shooting night, we would have won this game. It happens, kid's a 2nd year guard.

I really like what I'm seeing out of Tristan lately.

Irving doesn't seem to attack the basket nearly as much anymore.

That seems to be the case with all of the perimeter players right now, and I'd say it largely has to do with getting zero calls all season.

Z will be the perfect instructor in that regard.

Didn't we learn though that the Z model of not having a true defensive anchor at center doesn't work if the goal is to win championships?

You can live with a center that plays TT's style of ball because he would have the size to be a a true anchor back there.

Problem is it is not realistic to have 2 offensively limited bigs out there at the same time, so I am not sure given how Grant is configuring this roster it can really addressed.

Well, Zeller coming off the bench playing a Z role is fine.

But that's something I was considering during the game. I don't like having one less rebounder, even on the offensive glass.

Anyone think Kyrie was asked not to drive as much in an effort not to get hurt during a season in which we know we wont be making a playoff run.

I don't project Zeller to ever be anything more than an off the bench big for a contending level team. I just think his role is well defined in this league in that capacity, and he'll have a long successful career in that role. But in reading your posts, you've outlined what I think is the biggest and most important aspect of Chris Grant's rebuild of this team ..and that is finding the right mix for us in relationship to how our rotation of bigs works for us. Nothing is locked into this rebuild... It's good that Tristan is showing some ability to grow and progress..and building his value ..but we never know for sure if he's a longterm piece, or one eventually used to get a longterm piece that mixes and matches with our other talents. But, for the here and now...it's very good for us that Tristan doesn't appear to have flatlined in his development. That he is growing and progressing because that translates to value.

That could be, but my above post I think makes sense. I didn't see Gee or Waiters drive hardly at all tonight. It just seems they are all settling more and more because they know when they go to the rim its open season and the refs aren't going to call shit.

So all bigs either have to be offensively minded or defensively minded? We can't have one who does both? That seems to be what I'm getting from you. There do exist centers out there who are great on both ends of the floor and spread the floor, allowing Tristan to exist on this team.
