Nice work Chief getting a preview up there. I'm so hyped for this game, got the wife on board with it too. Hoping I won't accidentally hit her with an errant fist pump.

Thanks should go to thewuck for picking up the slack on this preview. He used my season opening preview as a template but did a lot of work to bring it current for this game.

The Cavs are sorta in a no-win situation against Boston.

Obviously if they lose, they not only drop to 0-2 on the season to the Celtics - but quite possibly they lose a lot of confidence. If the Cavs can't beat Boston at home when the Celtics are in by far their biggest slump over the past two seasons, do they really have a chance in the playoffs? Even if the Cavs win, it will be a victory that can easily be written off by Boston and even the national media as they are indeed in a major slump.

If Boston does win, they will regain their confidence as the first team to win in Cleveland and thus beating their toughest obstacle to returning to the NBA Finals. A win for Boston could get it all turned around for the Celtics. The national media will quickly ignore the slump if they can win in Cleveland and go on a little roll after. We know sooner rather than later the defending champs are going to get it turned around and win 7 or 8 in a row. Let's just hope that starts after tonight.

I want to see us drill them.....hard fouls....a scuffle....I just want to bitch slap them and shake their confidence worse than it already is.

Be a mistake to get too caught up in the shoving around, I think. And their confidence is going to hold up no matter what we do today, they're an arrogant team. This is one battle in a long war. Actually think it's more important for our confidence, we should stop feeling like the underdogs against this team.

Losing at home to a top rival is a bad thing, especially when they're down.

But extending the Celtics slump is a win situation, no matter what. Both for the short term slump and the long term shot at getting the top seed. Whether the Cavs get credit from the media right now is not so important. Beating the Celtics without Z is gonna be great for morale, especially when the Cavs have lost 2 of their last 4 games, even if gets downplayed a bit.

If we win we can damage the Celtics' psyche a little further by sending them to their 7th loss in 9 games. And at the same time, take a 1.5 game lead for the #1 seed. And extend our home record to 19-0. And watch KG and the rest of the bunch walk out of the Q dejectedly as they search for answers to their tailspin. I'd say there's a lot to gain with a win tonight.

You have no idea how pumped I am for this game! I cant wait to see the Celtics suffer. I just love watching them! Its so frickin fun.

Even on XBOX I use the Celtics and play the suckiest team and then on purpose take bad shots with the Celtics just to see them suffer ans lose. :chuckles:

Cavs win by 10....Everyone will play good but Wally and Boobie will rock again tonight....Just watch....

I agree, tonight is a must win game basically, but I can see how someone can say it's a "no-win" for the Cavs. We're 18-0 at home, and last year at home against the Celtics (including playoffs) we were 5-0. They've lost the same amount of games in their last 8 as we have all season. They're almost expected to falter on the road against us, but if somehow they snapped out of their skid against the NBA's last home undefeated they would receive instant redemption.

Anyway, one of my friends is coming in from out of town so we'll be watching the game then out (hopefully celebrating the win with a drink or ten), so neat-o stats won't be up until Saturday. Sorry in advance!

Yeah, the pressure is on us to win the game. I think that's what his point is.

If we lose, it's a bit of a shot to our confidence given the celts slump.

I want to see LeBron sitting on the bench for the full 4th quarter again...

Laughing, smiling, and kicking his foot up in the air at good plays by the reserves in garbage time.
