Game 37: Cleveland Cavaliers (19-17) @ Golden State Warriors (28-5) Friday, January 5th 10:30 PM EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
At the point I made several months ago -- in the Feb-Mar time frame. This is a team that had absolutely nothing at the end of last year to talk about...whether you like it or not, Rome wasn't built in a day...or even a year. If you can provide an NBA team that has done that please let me know.
Miami kind of did, but I feel the players were more optimistic (buying in) and had a prime LeBron. Not that I don't think LeBron can still be what he was, but I think he's shown himself to be a bit more of a control freak on a team that allows it now. There were plenty of shots (camera) on him tonight that looked fairly promising though.

I get the longer-term view, but I can't imagine anyone at the start of the year who expected a team that would go 2-8 since Christmas, even without Lebron. Almost every player has been a disappointment compared to expectations. The one guy who was a bright spot of improvement (Kyrie) has been regressing. The old guys look like corpses. Blatt is playing guys way too many minutes and atrocious defense has been the only consistent thing I've seen. Effort has been poor. This is one of the laziest Cavs teams I can remember; takes me back to the Lamond Murray days. This year so far has been a disaster.

Hope it gets better. Maybe it will get a lot better. It needs to because Griffin has fired most of his available bullets.

I'm going to run with a positive:

Mozgov looked good and it felt good having him on the court. It is almost night and day with regard to the perception of how the interior feels on defense.

They should have never started the season without a proper center. It was hubris beyond belief.

But that is the past. Forward.

Sure. They just got their asses handed to them by two guys they could have had instead of Kyrie.

It'll come up every time they play the Warriors.

Tristan vs JV will come up against the Raps.

And when Grant's getting rapped as one of the top 10 worst GM's of all time, the Dion over Drummond whiff will come up.

Not reading through all this madness and Jig you get enough of my texts but my big problem is since Cavs drafted Lebron outside of Kyrie not including Wiggins have we ever drafted a player we could develop and turn into a legit piece on our roster? How many draft picks have been burnt throughout the years? Look I know we don't have to hit on half of them, but outside of the obvious ones have we ever hit on a pick since Bron, Kyrie and Wiggans?

I thought this would be a ugly loss but it turned out to be quite competitive, and while I hate to look for silver linings in a loss that is a part of a longer losing streak, I found some.

I got a good feeling about the new guys. I mean JR scores 27 and he just looks so much more offensively talented and smooth than Waiters, sure he chucks it a lot but he is a willing passer, will attempt to play defense and not pout when he doesn't get his way.

Also Mosgov, dude just passed the physical and came out with a solid 9 point, 8 board night.

Not much can be said about this streak but I do think brightness will come soon, all this losing and playing without James will strengthen this squad.

On a side note, I got good timing. I had to take 1 dvr from 1 tv to another and did before the game, thought it needed a part on the other tv that the new one missed and unplugging it, not even from the main tv in the living room, caused some sort of interference and lost signal overall and I caught it by just glancing at the living room tv I never touched within 10 minutes of this game starting. Luckily put it back in its original spot and only lost signal during Jalen Rose before the game. Crisis adverted.

People are getting worked up over all the loses without Lebron. It's going to be ugly for awhile. Mozgov looks great in his first game. JR Smith already looks better then Dion. We have Shumpert who will bring much needed defense. I'm looking for this team to go on a run after the Allstars break.

I'm sorry, am I supposed to be happy by watching JuWarriors. king Holiday killing us tonight?I mean seriously, how do we constantly let scrubs make names for themselves against us? Whoever is coordinating the defense is doing a shit job, I tell you hwat.

Justin Holiday is having a career year and has really taken over backup shooting guard for the Warriors. That second group with Iggy, Livingston, and Holiday has been rolling for the past month on both ends of the court. I have no idea why its the Cavaliers coaches fault if the Golden State bench has been this good consistently.

Sorry, I was very drunk when I posted that.

I mean that post by Max doesn't change my opinion on the Tristan vs Val debate. There was too much smoke about Val and his agent not wanting to come over from Europe if he was drafted by Cleveland for me to think there wasn't something true there. I also agree on the latter part about potential over production, but that's for another place. But the Jack signing and the eventual trade to clear that mistake, the Bynum over Gasol situation, and the Bennett pick not traded essentially being controlled by Dan is pretty bad. Those were the 3 major things that got Grant canned IMO.

The rehiring of Mike Brown was Número Uno.
