• For the sixth year in a row, the Cleveland Cavaliers opened up the new year with a win. The last time the Cavs lost the first game of the new year was January 2, 2004 at New Jersey. On the other hand, the Washington Wizards have lost their last three new year opening games dating back to the 2007-08 season.

A New Year, a New Slump.

• Heading into Tuesday's game at Philadelphia, the Wizards are riding a four game losing streak. However, even if they lose that game and the game in Cleveland, they will only tie their longest streak of the season with six losses, which they have already done twice. The longest losing streak over the past two seasons for the Cavaliers is two games, and you'd have to go back to December 8, 2007 to find their last six game losing streak.

Look out for Mo Williams.

• Over the past eight games, Mo Williams is averaging 22.3 points and 5.5 assists per game, shooting 23-46 (50%) from three and 33-36 (91.7%) from the line. In the 28 games prior to this, Williams averaged 16.3 points and 4.8 assists per game, shooting 62-143 (43.4%) from three and 73-84 (86.9%) from the line.

Hopefully by the next Cavs/Wiz game, "Anger" Jamison will be sporting a Cavs jersey.

MAN, those Wiz cheerleaders are hot! Cavs girls need to take some naughty pix like that.

Should be an interesting match. The Wiz can look destroyed playing other teams, but against the Cavs they look like a team defending an NBA championship. We must be ready to shut them DOWN!

Well done Cama. Just one more example I need in stepping up my own game preview efforts. Bastards.

This game has "ugly basketball" written all over it as I've noticed us repeatedly get into this little spat with the Wizards. I'm positive we can blow them out on any given night without the court drama, but I can only imagine how hard it is to keep things in check once you're on the hardwood. Composure and poise will win us this game, and I think we will win, but just be ready for some grind-out slop basketball. Ya gotta hate those bottom feeder teams at times, the team with nothing to lose just itching to play spoiler.

As for strategy, I'm expecting Antawn to be the #1 offensive threat for the visiting team. Putting some tight defense on him will definitely work in our favor; I have faith that Gilbert and a sub-par Caron will shoot themselves out of contention in the end. Even if they are clanking shots, still expect them to be buttholes for the full 48 minutes.

Nice game thread!

This game makes me nervous because the Wiz act like it's a Finals game every time we play them in the regular season. Especially Arenas, he has to know a suspension is looming so he will be going 110% against us.
