Game 5 | Knicks @ Cavaliers | November 4th, 2015 | 8:00 PM EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm just sick of all these national games. We have yet to see one home game broadcast by our own guys.

Man, I just cannot get interested in the regular season this year.

The results aren't really in the balance in the majority of these games. This team will win 60 games or close to it and cruise through the Eastern conference and the season just really doesn't matter until the finals.

Yeah, I hate watching winning basketball :chuckle:

How does Hubie Brown suck as an announcer? He provides some of the best analysis in the game. He doesn't say ridiculous incendiary shit like JVG and Reggie Miller and he provides the kind of insight a former coach can give you.

Weird seeing multiple people saying that. What are people looking for in an analyst?
I find myself disagreeing with basically every single judgment he makes on officials' calls. He seems to weirdly defend and agree with bad calls all the time, and when he does choose to disagree with the refs it's totally out of left field and still wrong half the time.

Don't get me wrong, he's no Reggie Miller, whom I can only fathom has an announcing job for the same reason Skip Bayless has a job. But for some reason, his announcing is grating to me.

On the other hand, I think JVG is a national treasure, so take it for what it's worth.

if the cavs want to get respected like the warriors, maybe look at their body of work and play to it.

'dislike' button is ________________________________________________V

I think the Cavs have plenty of respect. 53% of GM's think cavs will win the ship. 70% think they will win the east. They won a game they came into with almost no interest missing 3 heavy rotation guards. This will be a very different team when irving comes back. And it will be a very different team after allstar break. Who cares what respect they are getting now?

What could explain it is that I don't really even hear his opinions on calls. I pretty much tune them out and make my own judgements on plays. Same goes for any sports.

With Hubie, I really just listen for insight to the game. I also like when he gets pissed off at the players or coaches and lays into them.

I'm not a JVG fan. Too grating and too much of a whiner.

Not mad at how the Cavs are turning out early in the season. You mean to tell me, LeBron isn't playing 40+ minutes a game? good.
You mean to tell me that Mo Williams is turning out to be a good pick up? GREAT.
You mean to tell me that TT and Kevin Love are playing according to expectation? GREATER.

Regardless of where it is, it's good to watch the Cavs w/o the awkwardness of last season. The whole "LeBron's back" thing is no longer a spectacle. Just the waiting game until the injured players come back into the fold.

Hubie sucks and has sucked for a long time.

I expect national color guys to not butcher basic facts repeatedly throughout a broadcast. I expect them to not appear overtly biased towards one team. I want them to provide unique insight from a former player's/coach's/GM's perspective. I want them to provide some humor and levity. Hubie only checks off one of those boxes, and only partially. And he's boring as hell while doing it. I put him in the same tier of shitty color commentating as Jon Barry, Reggie Miller and Mark Jackson. Jon Barry is the absolute worst. As your daily reminder: http://www.firejb.com/

My preferred national color guys are JVG, Doug Collins, Webber, Fratello, and maybe Hill/Burke, but they don't do as many games.

No Marv Albert love?
Edit: Just realized you were listing color guys only, not play by play.

Calves are eeking out these games despite missing our 1-2-3 guys in the backcourt, a still recovering Mozgov, and Old LeBron. It isn't perfect and isn't optimal, but they are closing out these games and I think that bodes well for the future. They weren't gutting out these games at the beginning of last year. A step forward, I think.

This pretty much sums it up perfectly.
