Game 52 | Cavaliers @ Raptors Feb. 18th, 7:00PM (ET)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If we do in fact move Wally, we need to get him back. He's important to this team. I truly think he's the type of guy that comes off the bench on a championship team.

looks like im done here....just one thing,if wally go and dont want to be bought out i really believe that this team will win the title......

Yeah, good luck Wally World.

I hope you'll pop in from time to time, or maybe, God willing, Wally and the Cavaliers will one day meet again!

Good luck WW!

We're not trading Wally, just his contract. He'll be back in 31 days...

All joking aside, I totally agree Jigo. Wally is an easy target at times but he has been a stand up guy this year and has done whatever he's been asked to do... all while his name has been floated in rumors pretty much since the end of last season. He would be one guy that would deserve to be rewarded by getting a buyout and being part of a championship here. I would definitely welcome him back.

JJ with 8 rebounds allright! AV is back too baby!!!!

glad Z finally remembered his place in our offense. got his inside game going, popped outside for a few shots, went back inside. looked good tonight Z

How do buyouts work? Would Wally have to do some convincing for it to happen? Or is it as easy as just asking a team to do it and they do it?

It depends on the team he would be dealt to, but theoretically it would seem fairly simple since said team would already be in cost-cutting mode, or they wouldn't have traded for Wally's expiring contract in the first place. If they agreed to a buyout (assuming Wally would ask for it) I would think they'd be receptive to not having to pay the remainder of his salary this season (still millions) and instead only pay him much less to leave. Then Wally would just have to sit for 30 days and resist any offers from other contenders.

Your the man. At first you just seemed like a Wally fan to me but now you actually seem like a Cavs fan and Wally is your favorite player. Best wishes to Wally if he does go anywhere and it would be awesome to have him back. THat 3 point shooting, defense (at least effort defensively), and rebounding would be very nice ot have as a 10,11th man off the bench

It would be an amazing scenario to get a solid contributor and then get Wally back 30 days later. I'm really hoping we can bring his handsome ass back here.

As a point of reference, McDyess has a $13.6M contract over 2 years when he got to Denver. Denver bought him out, but McDyess settled for $6M over 2 years. That's an odd case, since buyouts don't always require the player to give up more than $7M dollars (and he didn't make it back, at least not yet, with Detroit).

Wally has around $4-5M left on his contract this year. If he were to agree to forfeit some money (thinking he would make a little back re-signing with the Cavs or another team), the buyout could go forward. But both the team and Wally would have a stake in this.

Teams could want to buyout Wally also if they want their team salary and luxury tax to go down this year. It's calculated according to the buyout terms not the original contract. So, the team might want to buyout Wally at a final price of $1M, but I don't know if Wally gives up $4M to make that happen.

In other news, I thought Wally played well (again) tonight....

^ Good points wuck... of course the big assumption in my post is that Wally would be agreeable to a sizeable paycut to leave a lesser team and come back here. Easy for me to say since it's not my bank account being affected. Sort of similar to all the trade scenarios we come up with here in with we freely spend Dan Gilbert's money for him.

Congrats to either LeBron or Mike Brown for sitting LeBron without pushing the minutes just go for the triple double.

When he got to 20 / 9 / 9 , I thought LeBron would be in to the finish.

Very professional win, starting with Z and sticking with the defensive scheme.

Looked like the break helped Varejao and Z get their legs back. Mo and LeBron just keep going strong.

I was a little worried about this game, but the Cavs took clear advantage of their weaker opponent. Good job. Hope to see the same thing in Milwaukee.

The only thing missing stat wonder was a James triple double, which he again neared just a rebound and an assist shy.

"Maybe [the league] will give me an assist and a rebound," James joked. "That would even the score."
