With two days off the reinforced Cavaliers arrive in Charlotte to play the 27-26 Hornets who are in 7th place and in the middle of a five-team logjam in spots 4-8. Five teams are within two games of each other as they battle down the stretch for playoff spots and home court advantage. The Hornets are 1.5 games out of 4th place and home court advantage, but if they stay where they are they have to go through the play-in tournament. At this point every game is huge for them.

The Hornets are 13-11 at home and are playing on the second night of a back-to-back, having lost to the Lakers last night 101-93. The Lakers did not have LeBron or AD; the Hornets were missing five of their six top scorers.

The Hornets are decimated by injuries with Gordon Hayward (19.6 ppg), LaMelo Ball (15.9), and Malik Monk (13.1 ) out. Last night they were also missing Terry Rozier (20.3) and P.J. Washington (11.6), leaving only Devonte Graham (14.2) available to play among their normal starters. In all they were missing 80 of the 111 points they are averaging this season.

Rozier (tendinitis) and Washington (sprained ankle) are listed as game time decsions for tonight. If both are out it would be huge for the Cavaliers. Rozier scored 42 points against the Cavs in the opening game of this season, which the Cavs won 121-114. He went crazy, shooting 10-for-16 on 3's and 5-for-7 on 2's. It is still his highest scoring game of the year although he's come close with games of 35, 36, and 41. If he plays tonight the Cavs need to double him and get the ball out of his hands. For the season he's shooting 40.4% on 3's.

Last night the Hornets' starters were Biyombo (6'8", 5.4 ppg), McDaniels (6'9", 5.9 ppg), Martin (6'5", 4.9 ppg), Bridges (6'6", 10.7 ppg), and Graham (6'1", 14.2 ppg). They only scored 93 against the Lakers. Other than Biyombo that entire lineup is 2nd and 3rd year players.

The exciting thing about this game is the return of Nance and Allen. Sexton and Garland missed Sunday's game but neither are on the injury report tonight. So for only the second time this season the Cavs will be able to play Allen, Love, Nance, Sexton and Garland in the same game. The only time that happened previously was against Atlanta on March 14 but Love went down two minutes into the game.

This will be the first game with those five plus Hartenstein, Prince, Okoro, Wade, Cedi, and Delly. The only Cavs on the injury report are Windler and Dotson.

So starting tonight we have 19 games to get our first look at the final complete version of the 2020-21 Cavaliers. Since the beginning of the season Drummond, McGee and Exum have been sent off while Allen, Prince, and Hartenstein have been added. Love and Delly missed most of the season with injuries. Nance was out twice and both Sexton and Garland missed a few games. Allen missed the last eight games.

Starting tonight the entire roster is in place with no further changes and everyone is available except Windler and Dotson. We finally will get the opportunity to see the complete package assuming no further injuries. These next 19 games (and possibly more) will give us a chance to see exactly where the Cavs are going into the draft and next season.

ESPN has both Garland and Sexton as “questionable“ and CBS.com have them both as “game time decisions“.

The oops are back. Glad to see Big JA back.

Garland making the open 3 open his games up. He better learn how to play while being doubled

Garland is a real PG. he’s so much better without Sexton.

I just learned from the Charlotte announcers that Hartenstein means "Rock Hard" in german

His legend grows
