Game Thread | Game #65 | Cavs @ Celtics | March 1, 2023 (ESPN)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This is the worst part to me. As bad as the other stuff may be, if they had hit just 5 more free throws, it's a 1 point win. These are professional NBA players missing practice shots.
The Cavs were down by 15 points with 2:20 to go. The Celtics stopped trying to score - they dribbled down the clock each possession which only gave them 5 seconds to take a shot. The Cavs got stops and Garland hit three 3's in the final 45 seconds to make the final score much closer than the game really was. The Celtics were at least 10 points better. This was not a close game.

It will be interesting to see these teams play Monday in Cleveland. Both will make some adjustments.

It just creates a good amount of confusion.

You call yourself MrDonut, but you LOOK like Monsieur Croissant!

Fine, if it really bothers you that much then I'll tell you. It's really pretty obvious when you think about it. The reason why I have a croissant avatar despite calling myself MrDonut is

...It's a pic of your significant other!

If i may project my observations onto JB: Rubio and Lavert don't play well together so JB has to choose one or the other. That's pretty tough with them being the 2 guards that play off the bench. IMO Rubio and Mitchell also don't play well together so that also makes it tough to get Rubio minutes. Rubio just isn't very effective if he's going to stand in the corner watching Mitchell (and Caris) dribble and DM is a guy that likes to feel his dribble for rhythm. That kind of leaves Rubio only playing well with Darius because Garland is great at using off-ball screens and the defense has to react to that--Rubio then uses the defense moving and reacting to get things going, bodies and the ball moving. When Mitchell plays with Rubio he doesn't run off screens at all, mostly just stands 10 feet beyond the arc waiting for Rubio's probing to accomplish nothing so he throws the ball out to Mitchell for a one-on-one attack.

Basically Rubio spends most the his time out there not touching the ball unless he's playing with Garland and he sucks as an off-ball spacer so i don't think he's going to (or even should) get many more minutes unless the team plays differently.
This isn't rocket science. I'm not a coach at any level of basketball, but it seems obvious that if Michell is out, bring in Rubio to go with Garland. If Garland is out, bring in LeVert to go with Mitchell. We can also use LeVert to replace Okoro, as well as Cedi. Cedi works well with Rubio, so bring him in with Rubio.

Am I oversimplifying things?

Clearly, you identify as a donut despite having all the indisputable physical characteristics of a croissant.

The final score was very misleading. Yes it’s G league and terrible to miss 8 free throws but this was a 13 point game with 1:14 to go. 3 late desperation 3’s while Boston was just killing clock and making free throws made it seem like a close game

I like your style, @MrDonut. You have a certain je ne sais quoi…

Seems like we have similar trend in our games. We are a top 5 team in first and second quarter margin. The second surprised me. We are bottom half team out of the break, and first in 4th quarter margin. Our bench problem manifests itself in late second quarter and late third quarter, but when our starters come out flat for second half, it really snowballs and leads to trying to come back too often. For a team second in point differential in league, our lineups are befuddling at times. We are really bad at buying starters a solid break without getting steamrolled. Opposing coaches also make better adjustments at half as the third is easily our worst quarter

@Lee, I'd worry about this guy if I were you. Definitely competition.
I know. I am not sure to love him or hate him. I think a bit of both. Foods with hole wars here we come. @MrDonut vs Jewy Bagelstein.

Let the games begin.

Nah, I don't think I can compete with Lee's dick jokes. Or his Jew jokes. Or his Jewish dick jokes. Truly a terrifying combination. Like a toaster in a bathtub. Because the toast would get soggy.

Wait, are you saying my soggy circumcized dick is toast?
