Game Thread | Knicks playoff series Game #4 | Cavs @ Knicks | April 23, 2023 | 1:00 p.m. ABC

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Hopefully our guys got all the MSG BS hype out of their systems and come focused right out of the gate.
I'm looking to see some of our shots going into the hoop early and consistently. Otherwise were toast.
Mobley and Garland need to show up too.

How could anybody off the bench for JB have any confidence shooting? You get no more out of players that you coach in any area than what you actually demand and expect and show confidence in.

Cavs need to win 3 out of 4. When one of the bench players gets 20+ minutes the Cavs win 3 out of 4.

Risky move?

I don't think so.

But I am in to winning too.

Stop. Their fucking NBA players. It's evident that most of the bench lacks confidence and that's because for the most part they belong in the CBA. Wade was the one glimmer of hope and he is an absolute gun shy cuck.

Osman is the only guy who is not afraid to pull the trigger.

Garland has to set the tone - hit his early 3s. And he will get open looks. Will he take them? Will he make them? If the answers are both "yes," I feel good about our chances.

My point about the Cavs committing too many turnovers by either driving into a crowded paint or trying to make tough interior passes was echoed by Bickerstaff.

Bickerstaff said that the Knicks overcommit in the paint, and when the Cavs try to play in small spaces, New York can make them play in a crowd and create those turnovers. He also said the Cavs didn’t make enough of their “one mores” — one of their core values — to open teammates on the back side. - Kelsey Russo

The way to burn a team that overcommits in the paint is to play the inside-outside game where they penetrate to collapse the defense then kick it out for an open 3. The problem comes when you can't make the open 3's.

And this from Donovan Mitchell:

“I think we came out a little too hype. I think it was one of those things we were just playing fast, trying to do so much, try to do it all in one play. You’ll take that aggression. At the end of the day, we can calm that down, as opposed to coming out timid; I think that’s the biggest thing. So we’ll fix that.”

Finally...

LeVert said they have to stay confident and not overreact too much to Friday’s game.

“Just stay confident; keep shooting them,” LeVert said. “We know the type of defense that they play allows a lot of wing and corner 3s. Just got to be ready to shoot them.”

I agree. You can't beat the Knicks without hitting 3's and forcing them to defend the perimeter.

That's when JB needs to go to his deeper bench to find someone who can hit a shot. No point in having a great defense if we only score 80 points

The Cavs need to show they are a LOT more mentally tough than what they showed Friday night.

Coaching adjustments cannot substitute being able to hit open shots.

If they don’t want to be laughed at and be told that the moment was too big for them, they need to act like it. It all starts with attitude.

Big day for the team! This will be a great experience. DM might have to carry, but let’s hope DG can shake the horrid game 3 off and knock down some shot.

Well you kind of have to. If they lose today, this series is pretty much over. We don't have home-court advantage anymore.
Hopeful for mobs to get going early on with a strong showing from garland. Once garland is key here.
