The last night is an indy game being helmed by Tim Soret. A lot of people were getting really excited over the last night until they found out the the lead designer is a gamers gate supporter. Now all of a sudden everybody want's to boycott it because he is some sort of scum for supporting gamers gate. The only comments I can dig up for him on twitter are very docile, so I don't understand the rage. I think because gamersgate got it's start from a female developer being harasses that everybody assumes that people supporting gamers gate are misogynistic assholes that are okay with women being harassed.

Gamergaters from what I gather are about preserving journalist integrity. The female developer where gamers gate began apparently started when she was outed by an ex boyfriend for cheating on him with journalist who then wrote positive things about her game. So, they're not okay with the harassment, but also not okay with journalistic integrity in the industry.
Either way, I can separate art from politics and this isn't the first time i've heard of people boycotting an actor, artist, ect. because of their politics. I've heard people o nthe right boycotting Tim Robins movies because he's a hardcore liberal.
It's something I don't understand. If somebody makes a product I enjoy, or starts in a film that entertains me, then I don't care if their beliefs differ from mine.
I'd be interested to hear from @Rich because he's into the gaming scene and social one here. Ditto with @gourimoko and @Jack Brickman . Pretty much the usual suspects. @David. plays metal gear solid, so he counts too.
