Can't stand how often he does those fake hand offs at the top of the key, usually just wastes time and results in a JC iso with 7 on the clock.
He shouldn't be doing so much.
9 guys is rough with just 2 bigs
It just seems very forced with Nance initiating the offense. If you know the guy is looking to make the home run pass it is a hell of a lot easier to defend. His passing can be very valuable within the offense however and if he extends his range even moreso.I wish Nance would focus more on trying to build himself into a stretch 4 than a point forward. We don't lack guys that can create for themselves at the moment. We need the spacing alot more.
I think our long term ceiling is higher with Nance being able to hit a consistent 3 pointer and giving spacing than facilitating from the center or PF position.

You have to play to your strengths, though. Nance easily a top-10 passer/facilitator among frontcourt players already, and he could probably be top-5 within a year or two if he keeps honing those skills. On the other hand, I don't think there's even a remote chance he becomes a top-10 shooter among frontcourt players, and he'd have to work his tail off just to be adequate in that role.
It's too soon to worry about fit and long-term ceiling when we have basically no idea at all who'll be on the team the next time we're in the playoffs.
We didn't see this zone stuff before Nance started going all in facilitating. I do think it will have it place in the offense but he needs the 3 point shot to round out his game and give spacing.
What I question is can Nance facilitate if we move away from slashers and get better 3 pt shooters? What type of PG do we need to pair with him? Does that prevent Nance from being a starter with Sexton?
Basically what I'm saying is I'd rather have him work on both his 3 point shot and facilitating equally or alittle more toward his 3pt shooting than just have him extremely focus on the facilitating aspect which he currently is. I think it's easier to fit him in if he is more well rounded as a player and figuring out the pieces around will be easier. For me it's about having a flexibility roster in terms of skills and personnel. If Nance becomes this unique style players then the front office will spend alot of time raking their brain and changing the roster to figure out what type of players fit with him.
I agree with all this...certainly it would help a lot of Nance can just get his 3-point shot good enough that teams can't leave him open on the 3-point line, and that seems within reach. I'm just saying big picture this is a "when life gives you lemons" moment. Great teams find a way to make the most of all the skills their players bring to the table, even when those skills are somewhat unorthodox.
As for what kind of players would fit well with Nance hypothetically, I think it usually helps to have two facilitator types on the court at the same time...an offense gets stale and predictable when it's the same guy running the show on every play. So if you accept that, I think almost any point guard could be a good fit with Nance, provided that the other three players on the court are excellent off-ball players (some combination of shooters and slashers). E.g. :
PG: (any well-rounded starting point guard)
SG: Rodney Hood
SF: (any solid 3&D wing)
PF: Larry Nance
C: Kevin Love
Or alternatively
PG: Matthew Dellavedova
SG: (any efficient score-first wing)
SF: (any solid 3&D wing)
PF: Larry Nance
C: Kevin Love
I think either of those setups would result in a well-balanced and effective lineup.
