Gooden to the Bulls - possibilities???

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Duhon is not just a "good" fit for the Cavaliers. He's actually a perfect fit for us. Solid defender at his position, a capable playmaker, and he knows how to stroke that 3. Since we obtained Eric Snow, we've always craved to "combine" him with the opposite PG.. be it McInnis or Damon Jones... to get the happy medium of a defender that can shoot. Duhon is that. Should we acquire him, there will be no more gripes.

Losing Gooden hurts.. but despite a strong start, he's continued to be inconsistent. Anderson Varejao coming back doesn't help his cause, as his 2nd half minutes are dwindling. I doubt we see Gooden as our future at the 4... he's just not the talent fit we need at that spot, we're actually detrimenting him by forcing him to play a different game.

It sucks to trade Gooden, not just because of his impact on the court, but off the court. He's a good guy, and is one of the few Cavaliers that puts hard work into community assistance. It's a very irreplacable trait...

But we have a logjam at the 4. We have a capable starter in Marshall - adds a perimeter threat to the starting 5... or even Anderson Varejao, who may be too raw for starter minutes, but I have always disagreed with this statement. I mean, even Pavlovic is starting now, the team is doing well, and nobody is complaining. He has had a couple tick-tack games with foul trouble, but nothing to the extreme. I would forsee a similar trend with AV.

Yeah like i said im a big Duhon fan, however that leaves us with a problem of what to do with either Jones or E-Snow. Im not quite sure which one I would prefer for the backup. Damon Jones would be the easier oen to mvoe contract wise and I do like the defense we would have at all times with Duhon Starter and Eric as backup.

I'm not so sure we would have to move D Jones or Snow. We probably would get rid of Wilks, but D Jones basically plays like a SG anyway... and with Luke out for 7 weeks we need the depth.

Perhaps your're right but Sasha is going to need some minutes as well. I like the fit in the backcourt with hughes and Duhon. I also think we can make bron more of a scorer and rebounder with this move, so bron doesnt have to dominate the ball as much, which i think will help larry hughes production as well.

I like that fit as well. Solid D without sacraficing 3 point shooting. Mike Brown probably loves Duhon's style of play. And Snow is a veteran who can understand taking a step down from the starting PG.

Also, does anyone know how Marty is developing? I wonder if he'll see any PT if this trade goes through. We will be a little depleated with bigs.

Any chance we can land Chandler? Any at all?

No. He just signed a HUGE contract this past offseason. Way too much for us to take on. And he's not worth the amount of money he's making.

But why is Tim Thomas not getting any tick in Chicago? He was always a pretty good player, he isn't being used at all. Is he injured? Whats up with that?

Tim Thomas is a horrible defender, cannot stress that enough, and his work ethic sucks.

You know the bulls vs jazz is on tv right now and Duhon is yet to get some tick. I have looked and he isnt listed as injured, the bulls commentators havent said anything and pargo seems to be being used as their backup. 2:53 left to go in the half and im not sure if he has seen any pt because he hasnt at all in the 2nd quarter.

you guys are all nuts. gooden is a stud big man and everyone here seems to jump at the idea of trading him to a divisional rival. this division is awfully tough to begin with and it seems like no objections are being raised to a trade that sends a quality big to the bulls for a pg. does anyone here appreciate the heart eric snow has played with all season? can anyone justify taking on chandlers new contract instead of paying the guy that has done exactly what hes been told to do, effectively, without causing any trouble? come on people.

I like the Gooden for Duhon and Sweetney deal. Duhon as advertised gives us a quick guard who is a god defender, developing shooter and a selfless guard who would be willing to play 4-5 fiddle in the starting lineup. We then have a bit of a logjam at the point which we can either make a trade or utilise the depth for different matchups.

Sweetney is a decent stopgap, but no long term solution. For the moment we have a rugged forward who can have some big nights, but also go MIA. With Marshall, Varejao and henderson capable of manning minutes at the 4, that is a minimal problem. This offseason addressing the 4 spot in soo much easier then finding a solution at the point.

We will miss Drews enthusiasm and occasional blowup games. He is a good kid who has been a great citizen on and off the court. He isn't though the prototype forward we need. He may "breakout" in Chicago, but you need to look past the numbers he may get. Its all about improving the team to be a contender. This deal takes steps in the right direction.

Yeah I defintely agree with karma, point guard is a much harder void to fill. Also take a look at this next coming draft, lots of quality big guys who I think can help fill the void. By next season I think av will be ready to start. Av doesnt have the post presence of drew but watching him I think he has a descent jump shot and he fills the garbage offensse role to a t. He is also easily our best big man at defending the pick and roll, just look at what he did to michael redd last night.

We arent saying trade drew just to get rid of him, that would be silly. We all just think he is our best bargaining chip considering our situation.

No one has really brought this up, so maybe it isn't a concern to others as it is me. Z hasn't been injured in a few years but I remain concerned that he will not play all the way through his contract. If he gets hurt, our post presence takes a huge hit and we may need some of Drew's ability to score in there. Big guys who can score and rebound aren't a dime a dozen.

AV is basically a poor man's Ben Wallace - and he starts in Detroit. AV has not reached his ceiling, and will improve with more PT. Drew is very expendable - IMO, his numbers will not improve much over time. Sure, he will will have flashes but, IMO, anyone placed at the 4 position in the Cavs offense can put up 12 and 10 with their eyes closed.
