Gordon Hayward Safari

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I come from another Safari in peace... If we hear no news about Hayward or Parsons do not be shocked. That is all.

Listening to Ken Carmen right now... A caller said he does not want Hayward because he is a tweener (95% of possessions were as a SF - http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/h/haywago01.html). Any other reason? Nope. I'm so glad that posters on here make actual, legit arguments. Even if I disagree with your opinion on Hayward, the arguments on both sides have been good on RCF. :)

Guys.. we're talking about a MAX deal for Gordon Hayward...?? I mean c'mon!

Yea, I get the caution. Hayward will almost assuredly get matched. Hopefully they keep channels open to talk some SnT though.

Why wouldn't the Cavs still offer it to him in hope to make the Jazz overpay?

If you thought you were going to have to fork out the cash for a bigger name free agent and you didnt want your money tied up for 72 hours while Utah takes their sweet time in matching the offer.

Well if the cavs are targeting someone else on the Jazz Roster aswell, making the Jazz overpay would be a pretty self-destructive move.

Then why even meet with him today if we already knew anything we'd offer would get matched?

I think the Cavs were likely working back channels today in efforts to see if a sign and trade was possible. Probably didn't get much sense that it was and decided against limiting our flexibility for the time being.

I'm good with that.

I think we should gauge the market from now until July 10th (ariza, marions, parsons) and we strike out on them, then we definitely gotta make the offer when it's closer to that date.

The money would be tied up until the end of the July moratorium (July 10) plus 72 hours.
