Could somebody explain to me how all the online works and all that? So you can join a crew? Just one crew? Do missions together? Just mess around free mode? Do you get your own online house and garage? How does it work? How does robbing other players work, like do they actually lose stuff or do you just get it too?
- You join a crew through Rockstar's Social Club website. Doing jobs with other crew members nets you more XP. You can also rank up within your crew. Someone within the crew can send you an invite on the website, but that's the only way of joining one.
- You can mess around in free roam with the general online public or set private sessions for you and invited guests only. Either way, you'll be able to level up, earn money, do jobs, etc.
- You can purchase properties online, same as the game.
- When you acquire a car, you can usually put a tracker on it, making it your personal vehicle. Until you own a garage, however, you will only be able to have one personal vehicle.
- When you rob other players, you get the money that they were holding onto, depending on how much they were carrying at the time. Do NOT walk around with more than $5,000 in cash (the game will warn you when you have at least that much money on hand), especially if you're in a game with random players because the vast majority of them are fucking assholes who will stalk you all the way across the map just to kill you for no reason at all. Get that shit to an ATM (located at most stores, except liquor stores) and deposit it into your bank account ASAP, or you're gonna be out of a lot of money that you just earned.
- Be careful when you steal cars. Steal the wrong car (it's random) and you'll have a bounty put on your head and you will show up as a red dot on every other player's minimap. On the flip side, you can kill other players that are red dots to collect the bounty on their heads, and once you get to a certain level you can set bounties on other players.
- By the way, one of the best ways to level up and get cash imo is to play Survival missions (available once you hit level 15, unless you know someone who's ranked that high). Making it through round 10 will typically net you around 4,000 XP and $20,000.
- Another good way of making cash is by stealing cars and then selling them. You typically can't sell the premium models (or even put a tracker on them for that matter) if you steal them, but I've stolen decent sports cars and gotten plenty in return. I think you can only sell one per day to the customs shop, though. Eventually, you can also steal specific cars for Simeon and deliver them to the docks for a nice chunk of change.
