We're a family here, right?

I've currently got the Queen Mother of all hemorrhoids going on right now. Started to feel it late yesterday at work, by the evening it was freaking unbearable. So large that I felt like I had to shit constantly.

So all that grossness to ask, does anyone have any secret home remedy they've used before? I've had flair ups before a few times in my life, but nothing like this one. Fucking hurts to bend over, though it does feel like this morning the constant feeling of needing to shit has subsided.

RCF, I need help.

Tucks are your friend in this time of need. Not a "home" remedy, but effective.

I hate when they start bleeding after you take a shit. Gets all itchy.

We are on the same wavelength. Have the worst hemorrhoid of my life. I am about to ask my PCP if she can prescribe something.

I stopped using my OTC stool softener a few days ago so maybe that is the issue.

See a Gastroenterologist- and get a colonoscopy if you haven’t recently (and that’s what the GI guy / gal recommends). I had a big hemorrhoid when I was younger and it turned out to be the result of straining because of a tumor. It took me way too long to figure this out, but fortunately it wasn’t too late.

I don’t mean to raise alarm bells, but seeing a doctor is a good idea here.

Btw colonoscopies are no big deal. It’s half a night of prep (drinking a mixture and pooping a lot), then they give you great sedation drugs during the scope. Easy.

Last point, but this is important to me: colon / colorectal cancer is on the rise in adults in their 20s / 30s / 40s - hospitals are just starting to catch up with this trend and are recommending colonoscopies for people below 50. Standard is usually not to have one until you are 50. But given the trend, it’s worth pushing your doc on this if he / she doesn’t recommend it, but your instinct (and peace of mind) is telling you different.

But don’t push too hard.

I find if you take some Frank's Red Hot, douse a washcloth with it, then use it to clean your shit slicer, you'll be feeling better in no time!

100% true.

A good friend of my wife's in her early '40s complained to her doctor multiple times about constipation and pain. She even asked for a colonoscopy twice but the doctor said no. And without a doctor, no insurance coverage.

After more than a year of that, she finally became completely blocked and yes, it turned out to be colon cancer. By that time it had spread, and is now pretty much everywhere. She doesn't have long left. They're trying to file a lawsuit before she passes so at least her nieces and nephews can get something.

So most definitely, if you feel that something is wrong, push your doctor as much as you need to because they very clearly do make mistakes.
