Home Owner Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
How far from the house is it? Drill bit extension should give you the length. You could always drill as deep as you can then do multiple holes on the top connection to the sides instead of just one hole on top.

The outer rotten part of the stump is gone now. I am chopping through good oak now and am starting to waver to your side.

It's 4-5 feet from the porch. Maybe 9 from the front door. It hasn't rained in 2 weeks here which is good to burn the stump, but not in case something else catches.

It might not have been a scam the first guy was running. He might of had a side deal to sell stuff on his own with the owner and the normal sales people didn't know about it. He might have just gotten his times mixed up or something.

I would buy computer equipment from a warehouse like that and the guy I was buying from was a relative of the owner. I met the owner and he was basically helping his brother in law to make money while he was between jobs. The guy I was buying from was doing the legwork to sell the stuff and getting his cut. Basically the regular sales people would only deal in big lots and didn't want to deal individually. Too much inventory was building up.

The time I met the owner was when the relative had just found a new job so he was going to stop selling stuff. The owner told me to hit him up if I wanted anything in the future since I had become a repeat customer. When I needed some other stuff the employee that the owner had asked to sell to me was real annoyed by the situation and basically said this was a one time deal for whatever I needed for one last time.

The reality for me is one time I got ripped off for 350 bucks and the appliance didn't work. However, I got an electrolux washer and steam dryer, Kitchenaid double oven, Bosch super silent Diswasher, Kenmore Pro fridge and matching Convection Microwave all for about 1500 bucks. If you get ripped off once out 7 times, you are still ahead. That's less than the cost of my fridge new, which was only a year old when I got it. It scared me for 20 min, but has been good since.

The stump burning looks like fun & I have three trees coming down that are pretty big but the HOA and Township would likely have a shit fit if I burned stumps. I highly doubt it's legal where I live.

I had a few neighbors complain about my kids toys out in our parking space. Heaven forbid kids act like kids in the presence of cranky retirees. So I built a lower extension of my cabinets:

Here's the framing underneath the original custom made cabinets from the early 1980s...

Here's the end of the carpentry - attached a side panel on the right but just built onto an existing cabinet to the left. I used hinges and a clasp meant for a fence. I think my kids will actually use it properly.

Here are my two boys staining it a red barn color. I know it doesn't match. That's by design to piss off the complainers.

I just need a coat of poly tomorrow and I'm done.

That is completely petty and I am here for it.

When they complain about the change in stain, I look forward to staining my upper cabinets Sedona Red to match the lower cabinets, completely unlike the rest. It's going to be extremely satisfying.

Freakin Amish, 3 guys * 3 hours = built shed, this morning, from 6:30-9:30. Including painting, which I was not aware of, so there is a nice handprint on the side of it.

Ask for an update in 5-10 years regarding how it is holding up :chuckle: 4" limestone and 4x4 runners, and I did do a french drain on the back side and additional limestone bed

Now I have to go into work

Anyone have recommendations for finishing the floor? I'm pretty sure it's plywood and not OSB but I honestly forgot to confirm lol

I wouldn't mind a bit of protection and now is the time to do it.

I was thinking just poly with some sand mixed in. I suppose paint would be OK too.

That's cool. How deep is your french drain? I want to do this, but its so labor intensive

It's about 8" down, after digging down about 16", which is why I wanted a drain in the first place - the back corner of shed is below grade.

Wouldn't have been a problem if it wasn't for roots and stumps, there was a cherry tree here a long time ago. Circular saw, reciprocating saw, sledgehammer, chainsaw...threw everything at it and it still took hours to go ten feet. Also chainsaw blades dull IMMEDIATELY when introduced to dirt. I knew I was going to sacrifice the blade but literally about a quarter inch in it was dull.

If I had to do anything more substantial I'd get a trencher.

Lowe's sells drainage pipe that is intermediary between the super cheap black corrugated stuff and PVC, with and without holes. Would recommend.
