How do you cook it?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I am planning to cook for a date night for someone who loves seafood. I do not, so I have no idea how to prepare it. I was thinking flounder...anyone have any suggestions on how to make a nice meal around flounder fillet's?

I may go with the chipotle shrimp tacos now after reading this thread, that looks damned good!

If you end up going with the tacos, I absolutely recommend the recipe I used. Let me know if you want to use it. The homemade avacado and tomatillo salsa made all the difference in the world as well.

If she likes shrimp, go with the recipe from Toph. If she doesn't (and you should ask, b/c sometimes seafood lovers have shellfish allergies), then make the stuffed flounder. Stuffing fish (or anything) really isn't that hard or more work, and the stuffing should maintain its moisture, just in case you overcook it. Just google stuffed flounder and make it happen. You will get laid.

I appreciate you guys being concerned over me getting laid, but it's a given in this scenario unless I give her food poisoning. We've been dating for a year now. I'm just doing something nice for her; a romantic home made dinner for two with food she likes but doesn't get to eat often. I think I'm going to go with Toph's recipe, do you mind sending that to me? It looks like a winner.

Once upon a time, my mother wanted to impress my father by cooking some chicken for him.

Now, my mother was a fabulous cook, but apparently, she didn't think he'd like her Trinidad style cooking. She goes out to Kentucky Fried Chicken, gets a bucket of chicken, disposes of the bucket. places it in the oven. When my dad comes over, she presents it as her own chicken. My dad goes along with this- He knows his chicken. I guess he didn't tell her until some years later, and she confessed.

Now, I totes expect Dang to have Toph slip him those tacos through a window.

Lol, maybe if I was really trying to impress her at the beginning of us dating. She's already impressed though ;)

I'm a fantastic cook when it comes to food I like. Italian, Mexican, BBQ, got it down. Seafood? Not so much. Gonna have to practice it once or twice before the real thing to make sure it doesn't have her in the bathroom all night.

But can you bake?

Sadly, no. I tend to make rather awful baked goods.

I stick to the stove, not the oven.

That's atrocious. :chuckles:
But you do tend to take from this thread. You made those pancakes I posted.

I see your game plan.

Whole roasted chicken. I've been doing one of these every few weeks and I'm constantly tweaking. I've found that Montreal Steak seasoning and a squeezed lemon on the outer chicken give the chicken a great flavor. Cut a lemon in half and let it roast in the body cavity. I cook it in a roasting pan for about 15 minutes/lb and take the lid off for the last 20-30 minutes to crisp the skin.

I made stuffed crust philly cheese steak pizza last weekend.

Made the dough from scratch and then sautéed the peppers, onions, steak. Used mozorella cheese sticks for the stuffed crust, pizza sauce, cheese, steak, peppers, and onions, and top it with cheese. Place in the over at 500 degrees for about 10minutes.

It was pretty damn good.

So I'm hosting the Browns game on Sunday, I could cook burgers on my flat top but i kinda wanted to do something different, plus idk what the weather will be like.

Any suggestions? Something that could be mostly prepared beforehand would be great. Last week I made a killer roast for pot roast sandwiches, was thinking of doing that. Or maybe my famous chicken sandwich (chicken, shrooms, onions, provo, garlic mayo on ciabatta) and a pot of my famous chili.

One great "dude food" I made for a party this summer was smoking pork shoulder the day before for dinner, then mixing leftover pork shoulder into burgers for a party. It's still burgers, but there's something different.

Pork shoulder is also fantastic for nachos.

Cover the pork in a Carolina bbq sauce and pile it on the chips with ingredients of your choice.
