Illinois @ OSU

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It appeared that Dufrene lost the football on his way down and OSU recovered the fumble in the end zone, but the officials ruled that Dufrene was down at the 3. However, OSU did not challenge the ruling and the play was not reviewed.

I thought that in college the replay challenge comes from the booth above, not the coaches. Is it true that this was actually on OSU's coaches for not reviewing that play?

“I heard that afterwards,” Tressel said of the possible fumble. “We don't have monitors in our coaches booths, so obviously they can't help with us maybe challenging. Plus officials theoretically look at and review every play. I have not seen that play, so I can't comment on whether it was a fumble or not, but I heard since that it could have been.”
Hmmm, I guess the coaches can challenge AND the officials above review each play. Is that new this year that coaches can challenge?

Well that thoroughly sucked. That was the loudest Ive heard a crowd at the Shoe, granted Ive never been to a UM game, however. Also that is the first time I have witnessed the Buckeyes lose. The Illini just ran the same play over and over again and it just kept working. Everyone was in disbelief that the D wasnt making adjustments to it. I just kept waiting and waiting for someone to step up and make a big play like I am so used to, but it just never came today. Illinois played an excellant near flawless game and Boeckman and the D blew it.

Oh and James what good did you think would accomplish in this thread? Talk about trolling.

Everybody but Tressel knew that IU was resorting to quarterback draws. This is the second game in the past year that JT has been completely dumbfounded by a mobile qb. Watching the defense today, you'd think they'd never seen game tape of Juice.

I'm still in shock.

BTW, I have no clue what these "Thanks" things are or what I just did to get one?

hey, if they pulled it out against an unranked team, they wouldnt be faced with this situation. dance all over there field? Williams was dancing all over the field when it mattered and osu didnt want to fight then, so whats that all about? must be good to know your team didnt leave it all on the field and didnt want to fight when it mattered. either way you cut it, y'all are done. another pretender exposed.

So who are the non-pretenders that haven't been exposed? Kansas and Hawaii?

Bottom line is OSU shot themselves in the foot big time. 3 unforced turnovers. Dropped interception. Poor defensive scheme against a spread team, AGAIN. Dropped the ball big time on not having the punt unit ready. Ridiculous botched call from notorious Big 10 refs. How many times did they set up 2nd and 3rd and long by running right up the gut on 1st down? Illinois is good, but the Scarlet and Gray beat themselves today.

This was Michigan State '98 all over again.

This was Michigan State '98 all over again.
Probably worse... Cooper would've probably lost that year to Michigan if the big prize was on the line...

I'm still feeling the effects of this one...what a joke of a performance this was.

Boeckman made about one good throw the whole game and that was the first play of the game...other than that all his throws were either under-thrown or over-thrown or idiotically-thrown...he didn't have the time to throw that he normally has had all year and that could've had something to do with it...Beanie was having a decent game I know we could've run all over them if we kept handing the ball to them...Boeckman and the line giving him the protection he needed were just not up to the task...Beanie could've won us this game.

The defense...wow...that was bad. Did we even have one sack? I really can't remember. Bunch of missed tackles...bunch of tackles where they didn't bother to try and wrap him up so either juice or mendenhall or whoever just bounced off them for a few extra yards and crucial first downs. Dropping an interception...

Calling a timeout when they have 4th and 1...they were punting! I know it was close and i could clearly see it from where I was sitting but the guys would have made it off the field easily before the ball was snapped...you just gave zook even more time to think about going for it on 4th and 1 and guess what he did it...and that sealed the game right there because the defense FINALLY made a stop and then we blow it with a timeout. I really want to know who called that time out...

I really hope our Juniors(Alex Boone, Marcus Freeman, Malcolm Jenkins, James Laurinitus, Vernon Gholston, Jamario O'Neal, Brian Robiskie) don't leave because if they don't the team is going to be even better next year... Larry Grant and Kirk Barton are the only big-name seniors that we are losing. I can see a bunch of them leaving though :/ It happens every year.

What a sloppy game. If Boeckman honestly wanted to put himself in the Heisman race... I think he put any end to entertaining that.

The refs horribly blew that fumble at the beginning. The way our Offense was clicking, we could have been up 14-0 and the big Mo would have been on our side completely. It seemed like the Bucks weren't used to a team that could answer everything that they put out there.

Anyone else sick of hearing "I told you so" from those retards at ESPN? I know I am. I also was getting a bit sick of hearing how Michigan didn't really care about the Wisconsin game because all they had to do was beat the Buckeyes next week to make it to the rose bowl. Give me a damn break... they were trying to win that game regardless of what the announcers were saying.

Yeah, and on top of that, it turns out the replay system was not even working during the game, which is why they never over turned that long run to start the game which gave the Illini first and goal at the 2 (followed immediately by an Illini TD), when clearly it should have been a fumble recovered by OSU. Would have changed the outcome? Maybe, maybe not, but it gives the Buckeye nation a legitimate beef and looks really bad on the Big Ten.

You bet your life…Under the category of “Gosh, it looked like those morons were trying to throw the game”; we unearth an article from the Los Angeles Times which states what seems like the obvious for those of us that witnessed the actual event:

Big Ten crew under cloud of suspicion
Referee Stephen Pamon is at center of controversy.
By Lonnie White, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer
December 20, 2007

Although there has not been any evidence linking Big Ten Conference referee Stephen Pamon to gambling on games, Las Vegas oddsmakers are leery of game-fixing at the college football level.

Two games from the 2007 regular season have come into question regarding Pamon, an officiating crew chief with a history of bankruptcy and gambling: Penn State's victory over Purdue on Nov. 3 and Illinois' upset win over Ohio State on Nov. 10.

"Both games had disproportionate money bet on the teams that benefited from the objectionable calls in those games in Penn State and Illinois," said RJ Bell of Pregame.com.

"On average, 70% of teams end games within one touchdown of the Las Vegas spread," Bell said. "Which means that a single corrupt call that results in one touchdown -- or a touchdown denied to an opponent -- would allow a gambler to win 70% of his bets."

It will be interesting to see the fallout regarding Pamon, whose officiating crew made several questionable calls in both games.
