We got to get this guy. He is a hell of a manager and is probably one of the best pitching coaches that can really develop young arms. Look at what he did with Kyle Freaking Loshe. Look at Adam Wainwright, look at Chris Carpenter, look at other marginal talents that went to the Cardinals and became much more that serviceable.

Like I said, I'm starting this Dave Duncan bandwagon.

Really? I'm leaning towards Joel Skinner.

:chuckles:

This just in...

Romeo Crennel to replace Eric Wedge as Manager of the Cleveland Indians.

If it is not Farrell then I think it might be a "name" manager. It appears the Dolan's believe hiring a big name manager might be the way to go.

However to keep it short I want nothing to do with Duncan as a manager.

Farrell is the way to go

Being a baseball manager seems like one of the easiest jobs in the world. If you can develop young talent, then you can figure out the rest on the fly.

Farrell is by no means unavailable. He has the contract clause, but that can be worked out. If Farrell wants the Tribe job, and they want to hire him, they will find an agreement. The Tribe may have to instead compensate the Sox in some way, but then again, the Tribe didn't demand compensation from the Sox when they let Farrell leave for a lower position with the Sox. I just don't see this standing in the way if the Tribe wants him and the feeling is mutual.

How about Kirk Gibson, he's the bench coach of the Diamondbacks, he seems like a good fit for a rebuilding team.

According to Castro and Lastoria and Swerb (via inside sources) he's not gonna come here. I'll give you the exact quotes:

From Swerb:
Being told by a very reliable source ... Farrell has withdrawn his name from consideration. Will not be the next manager.
From Lastoria:
Yeah, I am hearing the same thing from a third party who I believe got it from the same source.

Hmm.

No Farrell and going outside the organization....not sure where this leaves us. Hurdle?

I'm sure you know, as well as I do, that these 2 guys are very very very well connected.

Until we hear something official, all of it is hearsay. Let's se what Farrell thinks when the Sox season is over.

You wanna coach the Tribe? Because we get tons of young talent, but nobody ever knows what to do with it.

What do you guys think about Bobby Valentine? I wonder if he would be interested, I think he is done in Japan and is just doing broadcasting now.

Dont forget he is a master of disguise

For what it's worth, Bruce Drennan also said today it would not be Farrell and he has taken his own name off the Indians list as he wants to stay in Boston being the highest paid pitching coach in baseball at over one million per year.

What about Don Mattingly? He was a coach for the Yankees for a few years and still might be a coach.. not sure.

The Indians will not hire from within. It will be someone outside and I also believe it will be a name we are all familiar with.

Gosh; isn't this exciting? :woot:
