I'm starting the Dave Duncan for Indians Manager Bandwagon

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Actually I think it might be someone else that wants a managerial job but was passed over (by the team everyone associates him with) for Joe Girardi and that is Don Mattingly.

He is the hitting coach for the LA Dodgers. The last major Hitting coach to get a managerial gig was .... Charlie Manuel.

There are also these "named" bench coaches in
Joey Cora (White Sox)
Tony Pena (Yankees)
Kirk Gibson (Diamondbacks)
Alan Trammel (Cubs)
Carlos Tosca (Marlins)
Willie Randolph (Brewers)

Then you have these hitting coaches
Brook Jacoby (Reds - Former Indian)
Don Mattingly (Dodgers)
Terry Pendelton (Braves)
Hal McRae (Cardinals)

Others who may be considered
Sandy Alomar Jr
Joe Kerrigan
Bob Brenly
Clint Hurdle
Many Acta

Go outside the box...Go with Bobby Bonilla.

They'll play hard for Bobby Bo, otherwise he'll beat their ass..

Do you happen to have a short list of pitching coaches other than Farrell? The theory I'm hearing is that they want someone who has experience handling pitching due to the youth of their staff.

I am also a big Joey Cora fan and would love to see him as manager as well.

Just do not bring in a Wedge clone.

That is what a pitching coach is for. I would be a little disappointed if they don't go with either Scott Radinsky or Greg Hibbard from the farm system. Mattingly has the name, but are fans basing their opinion on that? What exactly are his strong suits, and has been actually successful as a hitting coach? Eddie Murray had a nice start here, then when guys started to struggle he didn't know how to help them out.

FWIW, just found out that 'firedonmattingly.com' is an available domain name. I just might have to make a preemptive strike...

My Pitching coach Short List:
Mel Stottlemeyere JR (Arizona)
Roger McDowell (Atlanta)
Rick Honeycutt (Dodgers)
Dave Righetti (Giants - Lincecum's PC)
Rick Adair (Seattle - been with the indians in the Minors as a coach)

Some info on Mattingly:

Following the 2003 season, the Yankees named Mattingly the hitting coach. He spent three seasons in that role, receiving much praise from the Yankees organization and his players. Under Mattingly, the Yankees set an all-time franchise record with 242 home runs in 2004.

On October 18, 2007, Don Mattingly was considered the front runner for the Yankee's manager position, after Joe Torre declined a one year contract extension. Mattingly was interviewed in Tampa, Florida on October 23, 2007 for the Yankee Manager search along with Joe Girardi, interviewed on October 22, 2007, and Tony Peña, interviewed on October 24, 2007. On October 28, 2007 the Yankees front office announced that it had offered the manager position to Joe Girardi, and that neither Mattingly, nor Pena would be offered the position.

Maybe he might be vindictive enough to take the Indians job so he can shove it to the Yankees for not making him the manager.

It will not be Ferrall, it will not be from within, nor will it be a retread (according to an inside source).

That leaves a few names:
Clint Hurdle
Bob Melvin
Manny Acta
Willie Randolph

I feel like these stories keep coming up for me but...two of my buddies in college banged Bob Melvin's daughter. One of them did coke off of her vagina area and then left her apartment immediately after he hit it.

For the record, she is not attractive at all.

EDIT: Check that...this was Doug Melvin's (Brewers manager) daughter I'm talking about. Are Bob and Doug related? In any case, I'm leaving the story up because I found it hilarious.
