Iman Shumpert: Gone! Thank God!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This guy wasn't good enough for Phil Jackson, he wanted Calderon instead lol :chuckle:

Jokes aside shump has been amazing for us from day one and has been a perfect fit in every aspect on and off the court

This is what Shumpert brings to the table....

I really, really love it when Shumpert is included in the three guard lineup with LBJ and either Tristan or Timo.

It's such a well balance of offense and defense that can be tweaked to splice in Delly as well. It's also amazing how effective J.R. and Shump are together on the floor, you can see the chemistry from their time in N.Y.

Kind of ironic in a way that Phil Jackson sent us players to help us take down the Bulls.

Sigh. The Knicks have a long history of terrible trades and free agent acquisitions (from Jerome James to Andrea Bargnani). But the Shumpert and Smith trade was inexplicably bad even for us - we gave up TWO rotation players for absolutely nothing of consequence.

And technically, we got the final piece we needed from OKC to snag Mozgov. I know we didn't get the pick from NY, but they were part of the three team trade.

Dion, Kirk, and Amundson for Shumpert, Smith, (and Mozgov later). Definite turning point of the season. It's still infuriating that Griffin didn't get executive of the year.

Shumpert is looking more and more like a core piece going forward.

Especially with Kyrie's defensive woes w/ or w/o injury, we need a very good defender at 2 who is also an offensive threat off the ball with the jumpshot and finishing. Add in he's young, putting up solid number in the playoffs, and he looks like the potential of actually getting better. Ironic that Bryon Scott wanted Dion because he reminded of himself but it's actually Shumpert who brings to the table exactly what Scott brought to those Showtime Lakers: athleticism, jumper particularly mid-range, and defense

HIghway robbery

Waiters for shump and Smith.

We should be banned

Technically we got Shumpert and Smith for a second rounder and a bunch of non-guaranteed contracts. We traded Waiters for a first rounder. Basically, we got Shumpert for free for taking on JR Smith's contract.

This guy is amazing on defense... His energy is endless. What is absolutely crazy to me is the amount of clean strips he has when his man drives to the basket. Shump always gets his hand on the ball when the opposition brings it to his waist. This guy has very quick hands and has a much better offensive game than I thought he had. Pay this man in the summer, please.

This is one of the things that gets constantly overlooked on this board. The net trade between us and the knicks was a 2nd rounder for jr and shump. The only interaction between okc and the knicks was lance thomas going to the knicks, who was basically another contract filler, and is frankly, garbage.

So essentially the net trades were waiters for a first rounder(half of moz) and a 2019 2nd rounder for shump and jr, which is a MUCH bigger crime.

The deal was made because the knicks wanted JR gone so bad they pretty much gave shump away to make it happen. I was sure at the time that jr would be toxic to us, especially before I found out he and lebron were friends, but damn he has turned out to be better at everything than I thought. One of my favorite cavs at this point.

I have heard that steals in college are an indicator of success at the NBA level. I wasn't really clear on this until this series. If you look at the timing and quickness involved it makes a lot of sense, but I think the biggest factor is just really quick reflexes. Same could be said for :LBJ's block

Looks like he's fully healthy heading into game 6, too:
Iman Shumpert's groin no longer an issue

Iman Shumpert's groin injury didn't limit him in 42 minutes on Tuesday, as he finished the Cavs' home win with 13 points on 6-of-10 shooting, seven rebounds, three assists and three blocks.

J.R. Smith added 12 points, two 3-pointers, three boards, one steal and one block off the bench, and the former Knicks continue to provide 'x-factor' production when the Cavs need it most. Shumpert is averaging 36.2 minutes per game in the series and seems like a lock to continue starting ahead of Smith.
