... I'll serve your ass like John McEnroe

J.R was a big part of our win tonight, but in the defensive end our main guy was absolutely Shump, which did a perfect work on Kyle. It was amazing to see it, Every time Kyle got the ball he was preparing to make his regular jump but Shump stayed so tight to him that he just decided to pass the ball instead of taking the shot. It happened not one or two times but the entire game. The only time Shump didn't guard him was the only time he hit his shots, and we saw how great impact Kyle's 3's making on his team. I just feel lucky we have this guy in our side.

Shumpert has just been huge for us. His defense is a thing of beauty, and the fact that he can get hot on offense too makes him such an important player. Plus, he seems like a really cool guy and is tough in an understated way.

How different is shump than Wiggins really?

Taking right now. Not future.

Did we get Wiggins first couple years for nothing?

Shumpert is a much better defender right now. Wiggins was awful defensively this year. You expect that from rookies, but Shump has been clutch for us on the defensive end and Wiggins wouldn't have been able to replicate that. It's hard to say who's better offensively right now because Shumpert isn't asked to shoulder that load consistently, whereas Wiggins was in Minnesota.

The main argument is ceiling. Wiggins obviously has a higher ceiling. But in the short term, Shumpert is more valuable to us because he fits his role pretty perfectly. If he can get more consistent with his three point shot he'd basically become the perfect 3&D player.

Shump is exactly what we hoped Waiters could become, except way better than Waiters could ever be because he is longer and thus a tougher defender. The greatness of that trade, especially considering we got an amazing bench scorer and rim protector out of it, isn't recognized enough by people. We got three great players for a shitty player who didn't fit here and a first round pick. Simply amazing.

And let's be honest, Wiggins would have been turned into a 3&D player here anyways because LeBron and Kyrie were always going to be the primary ball handlers. As long as Love stays, we definitely made the right move.

No posts about Shumpert: really?

The dude is making the playoffs his coming out party. Elite defense with good shooting and slashing: if he can ever stay freaking healthy we could have stumbled into Jimmy Butler 2.0 (don't see him being that good but he's got the potential)
