Indians Need a Power Hitter for 2016

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If all we wanted was straight power with nothing else, we'd have held onto Mark Reynolds..

That doesn't mean you plug a one-dimensional player into the middle of your lineup.

It's a horrible idea, quite frankly. Carter isn't a middle of the order hitter.

Pretty impressive to only put up a 1.8 WAR when you hit 30+ bombs. Carter is that bad, though.
If all we need is a one dimensional power hitter who can deliver 37 HRS then yes, that'smwhat we plug in
People already hate Santana for his inconsistencies putting the ball in play with runners on...imagine having a guy with as low of a contact rate as Carter there...guarantee JFT is calling for his head a month into the season...
No, I would not because I'm not advocating adding just one power hitter. We need a couple.

And Santana is not, nor ever was, a power hitter. He's an average player that works formus for now if we have power hitters around him, along with base hitters like Kip, Lindor, and Brantley.

I guess you two are a advocating we not do anything and stay the course....and WFNY.

You got me...not wanting Chris fucking Carter means I'm advocating for us to do nothing...

Go back to accusing me of being a child cancer hater, at least you had some character pulling that BS.

Was only a matter of time before you played the "you must not want to do anything" card.

I'm not going to overrate terrible players like Carter because the Indians need someone in the middle of the order.

If all we wanted was power, we could go sign Jack Cust or Wily Mo Pena on minor league contracts...middle of the order bat ≠ power bat

Chris Carter didn't even hit fucking .200 last season.

.200!

We need players that can fucking HIT the ball.

I was just looking over the free agent list, and yeah, there are a ton of guys out there with just pure power like Reynolds.

A few realistic names out there that interest me:

Marlon Byrd
Jeff Francoeur
Franklin Gutierrez
Chris Denorfia
David Freese
Mike Napoli
Justin Morneau

Freese is resigning with Anaheim, Guti already resigned in Seattle.

I mentioned Napoli before the offseason started. He's a platoon player only but he really really rakes against LHP.... .954 OPS against LHP last year in 151 AB's-- 12 HR's. He's locked in as a 1B/DH type and he'd like to start catching again in a backup role.

Reynolds didn't deliver. Same with the others we have brought on for "power." He gone.

If we can talk him out of catching, sure. He was awful behind the plate in the end.

Settle it via PM if it's that important to all involved, no need for all that in the threads.
