You almost never see baseball players take a discount. It's always been kind of off putting to me. Like no matter how much they "love" the team it's always to the highest bidder.Its honestly the most team-friendly, non-arby years contract I can remember in the team's history.
Probably in the entire free agent era.
Two straight 5+ WAR seasons.

Cookie is really the only one I can think of who has twice now taken legitimate home town discounts. It's cool to see, it always confused me to not see it more. You see it in other sports pretty often, but pretty much never baseball
