Honestly im not even sure but an Iphone is an Iphone at the end of the day and for those people that want one but dont want to sign a contract with AT&T they may be willing to spend that much on a 1st gen.

That Iphone may be off contract, but it isn't unlocked (even though that's easy to do) and available for use.

I sold my locked mint condition 3GS for $250 last week, just for a baseline.
