i like what he has done with the cavs defensively. i will state that right off the bat. BUT, i keep watching this team and the offense looks a little like a high school team.

weak picks set, weak rolls. plus we pick 25' feet from the basket.

i like the pick weave done to get z open in the middle. it looks like a train wreck in the lane with the gaggle of bodies. way too much reliance on lebron to do things.

setting up z for his jumper seemed to come back but it gets lost for 3 to 4 games then they find him again.

boy do we need a marice lucas type in the pf slot to bang some bodies around and create some havoc and fear in the lane. somebody whose job is just to set picks and rome to the basket when it is put up.

does anybody think mike knows how to stop teams but doesn't know how to get them to execute an offense.

Z barely gets to shoot his jumper. I would like to see more of that. Last year Z's jumper was very valuable to the team. This year, it seems to be instinct.

too early to tell - Mike Brown has been working exclusively on defense, which is playing well lately and is about to see some major tests on the road. Give it another 20 games or so and see where the offense is.

He won't start practicing offensive sets until the defense is down, rock solid. This was our chance to see it after that win over Detroit, but we lost to Houston and New York, so it's back to the drawing board.

I'm under the assumption that we at least have some plays. We just have no set strategy to utilize them, which is poor. And what's poorer, is that in the 4th quarter, we have no strategy at all... just give LeBron the ball and let him decide. Where's the coach at? Why can't one of the assistants act as an "Offensive Coordinator?"

Because the coach doesn't want to take away from defense to spend time on offense until the defense is down. Defense wins championships. The players we have know how to score points, but most of them didn't know how to play defense. Silas sure never tried to teach that. THe reason to put off offense is because it adds to the urgency to learn defense - we don't want to mask our defensive deficiencies with our offense because then the deficiencies don't get fixed. Fix them and then add the offense and we are a much stronger team in the end. The defense is getting there. We can still do better, but we're probably 95% of where we need to be defensively.

If you want to complain about Mike Brown being slow to address offense, perhaps costing us a few games in the process, take a look at Larry Brown. He basically threw away the first 1/3 of the season breaking down and rebuilding his team. Now they have a 5 game winning streak, including back to back wins over us and Dallas, and are just 2 games out of the playoff hunt.

but the knicks have more young talent than we do. grizzled veteran players have a hard time adjusting to new strategies. you can take a slew of rookies like channing frye and ariza and nate rob and eddy cury and teach them new tricks. our guys are more like the old doggies. they are set in their ways and it is harder for them to learn new ways of doing things. besides, when our allstar Lebron has the ball there is a 50/50 chance that he scores and we don't do much better than that when we run a play. let's not get too upset over not running plays at the end of the game. that worked ok for jordan when he was with the bulls. ask greg ehlo.

When Greg Ehlo shrugs his shoulders, try Craig.

What if the Knicks lose their next 7 outta 10 ?

Will he be the same genius ?

I don't know if the Cavs can afford to wait another 20 games to see what their offense is going to look like...

that was the time that jordan junped into the air and told ehlo that he could have a seat .... for a spell.

A good coached team always has an effective play to run after a timeout, otherwise you can forget it. There was a reason Jordan never won till he got a great coach in Phil Jackson

jordan never won until he was coached by jackson? that's news to us cav's who watched our butts get bounced from the playoffs by a jumper over greg ehlo when doug collins was the coach. if advancing to the second round of the playoffs is not "winning", then the cav's have never won.

except before jackson, jordan had stan albeck and doug collins. coaches that took other teams to the playoffs besides the bulls. and when jordan was making the call on a coach who did he hire? collins. so i don't think that it's fair to say that jordan did not have a good coach until jackson.

sometimes these things just steam my zippers.
