James Harden rejects OKC Offer / *Traded* to Rockets

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: James Harden rejects 4 year/ $52 Million OKC Offer

Wow. Isn't that the Kyle Lowry deal lottery pick?

Houston sends two 2013 first-round picks (from Dallas and Toronto) to Oklahoma CIty, source tells Y!

Don't know about either of those really. At least they weren't dumb enough to trade their own.

That Toronto pick could be a lottery pick.

Toronto pick WILL be a 5-14 selection I believe. Or 6-14, not sure. It has to be a lottery pick or they don't get it.

While I like KMart & Lamb, OKC got worse. No need to make deal this season. Should've tried to win it with Harden.

I disagree. KMart and Lamb are both pretty good 3 pt shooters....it's a younger version of what Miami added this offseason IMO

Re: James Harden rejects 4 year/ $52 Million OKC Offer

KMart is like Jamison was to us last year. A very consistent scorer. Plus, unlike us, they can throw out Sefolosha any time Martin becomes too much of a black hole on defense. I think this is a steal for the Thunder.

Re: James Harden rejects 4 year/ $52 Million OKC Offer

They did get worse in one sense. The sum of the parts is not as good as Harden is.

That said, long term if they knew financially they were going to lose him this is a great deal.

Have to wonder though how they came to the decision to pay Ibaka even if it meant letting Harden walk.

It seems they did make a choice there.

Sources say Rockets fully intend to sign Harden to contract extension he was seeking from OKC before Wednesday's extension deadline

Thunder pushed final offer to Harden to 4 years, $53M-$54M, sources tell Y! When that couldn't get deal done, Presti moved into trade mode.

Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA
Houston plans to give James Harden a four year, $60 million extension once deal is completed, league sources tell Y! Sports.

I would have demanded he sign that before leaving if I were Houston.

It might only take him getting to the team facility to see how bad a situation that is by Wednesday and deciding to just play out the season.

WOW, I am shocked that this trade just happened that fast. Lamb and Martin certainly make up for Harden's shooting ability (although it wasn't really there in the playoffs), but OKC lost a playmaker. Long term it definitely benefits OKC. On the flip side, it looks like Houston wants to make the playoffs this year? Which is not going to happen at all. Sam Presti is a damn genius.

Would of liked to see us make a run at Harden, oh well. The thing that sucks is we have all this amo and haven't done anything with it. Hopefully we will benefit down the road.

Thunder don't screw around. Smart that they had their number and limit with Harden and were set to deal him if he wouldn't accept it. They came out very well. Get proven veteran scorer in Martin who can replace Harden's points and whose contract expires at end of season, very possible long term SG in Lamb and 2 #1's which could be a late lottery and mid 1st rounder. That's excellent value. Long term they may have come out better.
Harden is a very solid player but has been a little overrated.

Harden was too pricey. Houston sold the farm pretty much for him.

4 years 60 mil per WOJ

Harden was kind of a perfect and unique target for what we needed.

Most teams that have stars coming off their first deal re-sign them.

OKC was the unique circumstance where they couldn't really afford him, so he was going to possibly hit the market.

Finding a guy like that who is still really young and worth signing will be tough, because 9 times out of 10 teams never let those guys go if they have them.

Agree that it stinks the Cavs won't have a shot at him most likely.

The Cavs need a Bynum type big more so than a SG. Bynum is the guy I hope we get.
