Stackhouse and the Mavs may be parting ways:
Obviously, Stackhouse isn't a long term piece. But guy can shoot (this year not withstanding), he's playoff tested and I'm pretty sure he can D it up (that's the impression I have of him, but I don't really know).
He's a big guard, he's available, he won't mess up any 2010 scenarios....
(Plus, if Ferry and the Mavs get some good dialog going, all the better for the inevitable Dallas firesale. I want Dirk)
Jerry Stackhouse believes he still has a lot of minutes in him -- he's just not getting the chance to use them in Dallas, so he is broaching the idea that maybe it's time for him and the Mavericks to part ways.
Stackhouse has made no demands or ultimatums, and he made clear after practice Monday that there were no personal conflicts between him and new coach Rick Carlisle.
[snip]
Stackhouse is being paid $7 million this season, and has a partial guarantee of $2 million next season. The Mavericks could buy him out or waive him, but the best option might be to work out a trade, though Stackhouse is currently in a shooting slump (29 percent) and is dealing with a sore right heel.
